I really like that friendships can start on message boards and then advance. VFDC relations can start with game questions and then continue into, "hey, let's go get some food and talk about whatever."

I like the VFDC general section more than general-type sections in other forums I visit. I'm glad I don't run into threads like this on VFDC. The subject matter doesn't bother me and I don't see what the poster gets other than commiseration. It's cool in a way. Then again, I'm glad our site isn't full of it.

Hmmm. I was trying to be cute actually and talk about Snakes on a Plane. Get it? Isn't that funny? Perhaps not...

Yeah so anyways, I really liked the idea of the movie and pretty much figured going in that they couldn't mess it up. They didn't. Seeing it opening night with an enthusiastic audience was honestly one of the best moviegoing experiences I've had, especially whenever the three fellas at the end of the aisle shrieked when a snake bit someone in a naughty place. The movie was self aware of course but always played straight and avoided camp. It was alot like Scream in a way but without the "what to do in a horror movie" exposition...when the FBI on the ground mobilizes to get the "best snake venom expert in the tri county area in 20 minutes" or when the inflatable raft perfectly fits over the hole separating coach from first class or when anything else typical of the genre goes down (gaping plot holes etc) you just can't help but laugh. In fact, randomly throughout the screening, various people (myself included) just started laughing for no apparent reason.

    The movie made me happy.

Gah. I figured you were being random for the hell of it. Sounded like an MC random to be exact. Randomly random subject matter FTW.

I still like our general section. Now I might want to see that movie, too.

Snakes on a Plane is funny because you get two unexpected things clumped together...Discussions on a Messageboard doesn't exactly raise an eyebrow if you know what I mean. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Discussion on a Messageboard (SoaP)

I saw Snakes on a Plane last night and thought it was great. The audience was into it and enjoyed it for what it was. I was a little worried that it wouldn't be able to survive the net hype that has proceeded it but I think it did itself proud.

As an aside one of our own was involved in the making of this film. Clem Yip, known as Shroud online was one of the animators that made the snakes do their thing.

Two key scenes to look for that he was responsible for:

    1) When Samuel breaks out the taser and crawls along the top of the seats. The first snake to get tasered is by Clem.

    2) Down in the hatch, Samuel must turn back on the AC armed only with his attitude and improvised flame thrower. The snakes he fends off with flame are Clem's own. He worked on that scene many times as the producers were always changing their minds about how they wanted it to look or what types of snakes to use.

Sadly, Clem does not appear in the credits as he and several other animators were inexplicably left off. I hope his name gets exposed for the DVD. Would be a shame if not.

    Kung-Fu flicks are back!
Anybody seen The Protector or Fearless?
Tony Jaa kicks so much ass, and I really hope that this isn't Jet Li's last fight-flick.
Sure wish Jet and Jackie Chan would do a movie together, Jet as the bad guy of course. He did such a good job as a bad guy in Lethal Weapon 4 that I wish he was bad in all his movies.

BTW, who do you think would win in a showdown between Jet Li and Tony Jaa?

Woah. how does this relate to Snakes on a Plane (S-Aki's real purpose behind this thread)?

at any rate. Fearless is not Jet Li's last film and he actually is doing a film with Jackie Chan.

I think tony and Jet would need to check with their individual choreographers and then look at box office receipts to see which one would come out on top.
