Do you play when you don't feel like it?

Here is my angle on this question:

I feel I should play or practice for at least a small chunk EVERYDAY. 45 mins minimum to ? Hours if I'm all into it. It's the daily repetition and practice that will lead to improvement.

However, some days, such as this one, I am looking forward to playing all day, buuuuuuut by the time I've worked all day, worked out, and all this on very little sleep no less, by the time I get home I just have no lust for it, nor energy to put towards it.

I played anyways, 3 whole games, before giving in to the fact that it just wasnt going to hit the spot.

So how about you guys? Do you go days without playing? Take the occasional day off? Or force yourself to at least dojo/play for a bit regardless?

I am also very tired after work and play like shit when I get on, but its not a case of me feeling like I HAVE to play. The desire is always there even when I'm not really capable of playing well. I usually give it up and go to sleep after I lose to random stuff a few times lol.

Even when I'm too tired to play I never "don't feel like it". It seems like there's never enough time regardless of how much of it you set aside beforehand. Something always comes up. I seem to get the bulk of my play time in a single day each week sometimes 8-9 hours straight when I'm running casuals with the Norcal crew. And maybe 15-30 min here and there a couple other days usually the wee hours right before bed. I think I would retain more if I could manage to spread that evenly throughout the week. The times I want to play the most (especially before a Southtown ranbat) is usually the time I play the least. So with my amount of free time, not feeling like playing VF is damn near impossible.

It happens all the time. What will happen more often is I want to play but really can't, or am having an off day in ranked/player matches. I'll just go to dojo in these cases and work on movement, defense, and general combos on characters I'm struggling with. Also just spend time looking for new tech.

There is so much to do in dojo that after I've spent a good 45 min there I'll be fine with not playing online and I come out with new information and stronger execution techniques. That's what I do when I don't feel like fighting opponents, but still want to play VF.

Honestly i don't like your idea of "forcing yourself to play" because vf5fs it's a game, and a game should be fun! I had more than 1 day off after i took this game. That's not a bad thing imho, because it helps you recover from bad habits and restart to learn the basic and make them stronger.

Beside that, having the right mindset to play to win it's really important. If you don't feel like you should play, you should probably do something to make you feel more relaxed so next time your mind won't be loaded too much with vf and the fun will be bigger.

You're not gonna like the game more if you force it upon yourself. Like already mentioned, if you have some time over and don't feel like playing online, do some dojo training. You'll probably improve faster in dojo anyway.

On another note, grinding online without any enthusiasm will probably only net you some bad habits and frustration. Instead you can set up some side turned situations and practice reacting to side throws or recognizing strings. Turn the tv on or hang in the shoutbox while you're in the dojo to make it even more relaxing.

Also, taking days of is a good thing. As long as you don't quit entirely.

Don't force yourself to play this game, everbody has their off-days and its good to take a break. If im tired I play sloppy, so I just mess around in dojo or play offline. Instead of playing ranked find a room and watch other people play. You can get alot out of it and get new ideas for combos etc..

I try to play everyday. Ill either room hop or fight in players match. If I get destroyed I usually save that replay & re-watch it later. I like to watch other players replays too especially Eileens' & hopefully I can learn something from that. This is the only game I play, and everyone on my friends list plays it, so ill always have sum 1 2 fight. I really dont do ranked anymore unless im fellin frosty.
