All I need to know is Jet Set Radio Future. Just this one game is enough to make me get an Xbox. Of course DoA3 and Silent Hill 2 Director's Cut among others don't hurt either.

It's too early to say. The PS2 was described as the best thing since slice bread and thats still got nothing great out yet (FFX doesn't count because it isn't in the UK yet).

Of course Microsoft will tell you anything to sell the thing but it's best to wait and see. The more I play VF4 the less interested I am in DOA3. Though, the fact that Panzer Dragoon will eventually grace the system will cause me to buy it then.

To be blunt all the polygons in the universe cannot make a good console. It's down to the software houses. with the exception of Sega, Konami and *Cough* Temco Japan are very sceptical of the system. So apart from US PC ports Xbox could not do so well getting further suport from the main players.

You could argue that with Sega, you don't need anyone else on the system. But the chances are that Sega with its new pollicy will go multi platform where is believes it will get away with it. Take Konami, Silent Hill will be multi platform. PS2 is far too big a market to pass up for developers. Sony have rewriten the book on game warfare. Xbox will have an amazingly hard time of beating Sony's record regardless of Xbox's spec. The Playstaion brand is well established with droves of fickle teens at it's comand. The developers will go where the money is. Nintendo will take care of itself.

    Don't believe the hype.

Over here in the US there's a LOT of hype about Halo (and Munch's Oddysee to a lesser extent). DOA3 also looks promising, but Microsoft is going to have problems going up against Sony.

Was interested in Halo some 2 years ago. Now it doesn't look so hot, plus it's going to be X-Box only?! Low resolution, default controls are for a control pad rather than mouse/keyboard... heh. I'll wait for Unreal Warfare for the PC.

If the X-Box offers VF4 (maybe an upgraded version, "TB" or something, since Sony has an exclusivity window), I'll buy it... otherwise I'll buy VF4, two arcade sticks and the PS2 all at the same time whenever it comes out.

P.S. After reading Itagaki's interview, I am planning to avoid DoA3 like the plague.

OK, lets put aside our personal hatred (I will try..I dislike MS) and be realistic, which system would we want shenmue 3 on - Xbox. WHich would we like VF4 on - xbox. What is the best looking fighting game to date - DOA3. What has the most raw power - Xbox. Really, no home system holds a candle to this system.

I would rather have Shenmue 3 on the Gamecube. I think VF4 is on the sytem it should be on. I think the PS2 gives it the best shot for popularity. I also dont think the home version should look better than the arcade game it takes too much from the arcade scene.

Excuse me - I complete disagree. WHy the hell is TEkken tag so popular in arcades still?
Gamecube? Why? Name one thing that has failed from microsoft?

Tekken Tag is popular comparitively to other arcade games it does not touch the home consoles popularity but I have seen a tremendous drop-off in arcade the games popularity since the home version's release.

Even though Microsoft has never really screwed up a product launch. Those were not dealing with videogames Nintendo just has a better track record in this area.

    P.S. Nice sentence structure.

What? Could you site some sources...I've not heard of anything under 30 fps, in fact, I believe EVERY game is at 60 fps.

Basically it comes down to this...

You can't play potential. If there's a system that's easy to program and the most powerful but still manages to avoid drawing solid third party developer support, that system is highly suspect as a viable contender. It'll be fun as a curiousity for a year or three, but that's not saying much. It's like reccomending the 3DO or the SMS or the TG-16... Good games, but nowhere near enough to carry 'em. (Aside from the 3DO which was owned exclusively by Nazi's.)
