1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Take a look at this site to find out if a PS2 emulator exist or not http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/ps2/

If you want it just to play VF4 then you gonna be disappointed because emulators never fully replicate 3D games you might get problems like poor sound output, graphical glitches or incompatible hardware. So you might aswell get the system that the game is running on.

Ps There is saturn emulator in the above link for those of you who still have the original SATURN CD's.

It's possible there's one at www.emuchina.net ... but you should buy the game. Old saturns and VF2's are probably still floating around, and you can find VF2 for the PC in your bargain bin for a couple of bucks.

I only discovered that emulators existed today, i didnt even know this sort of thing was possible on a pc.

Is there any one who can tell me more about these ,how they work, what i have to do and if there are any major system requirements that i may need.

    just the basics really.....anybody.......

    Sure...
An emulator is a program that converts information a game system can read (and turn into sound and graphics) into information a computer can read (and turn into sound and graphics). Basically it makes your computer able to run actual, unaltered games that have been copied or dumped from the original cartridges or CD's. By making your computer able to perfectly read and render information the way a neo geo or SNES does, you can play actual neo geo or SNES games without the need for a tedious conversion.

Some systems you can easily get emulators and roms for:
NES (nesticle is my favorite emulator)
    SNES (snes9x)
    NEO GEO (NeoRageX)
CAPCOM (Callus and Winkawaks emulate a variety of capcom arcade games. As far as I know even recent games like CVS are emulated)
    SNK (Winkawaks)
    SEGA GENESIS (Gens)
TURBOGRAFX 16 (Magic something or other, I actually paid for this one)
    SEGA MASTER SYSTEM (dunno)
PLAYSTATION (Bleem, and something like VCS?)
    NINTENDO64 (dunno)

...and there are others. There are a LOT of others. Some are made to emulate just ONE game perfectly.
ROMS: This is the generic term for the games that these things can play. A rom is simply a file (typically with a .bin extension, or sometimes something else) which the emulator can use to make a game playable.
Roms are much, much harder to find than the emulators. Emulators are basically legal as far as I know. Roms however are working copies of games. Every time a site seems to be a good source of roms, it gets shut down. The biggest example is www.mame.dk, which used to have thousands. Sites that are still OK as far as I know:
    http://mamefans.metropoliglobal.com
    http://www.classicgaming.com

LEGAL ISSUES: Some game systems appear to be entirely legal to emulate. Neo Geo is the safest, neo geo distribution sites are never shut down as far as I can tell. Others, like NES/SNES games, are so old nobody is cracking down on the piracy of these games.

Playstation games and N64 games are the roms that are hard to find because the distribution of the roms for these games is frequently prosecuted. (Sony crushed Bleem in court with using their deep pockets).
So when are these games theoretically legal to download and play? If you already own the cartridge/disc/arcade board and want a 'backup' copy.

Other bits: The emulators are nice, sometimes they support nearly every game for the system, and other times some are not supported due to encryption or emulation difficulties. Many emulators allow for screenshots, which is the source for a lot of the avatars you see on this site. A few also support making movies and dumping the sound to wav/mp3. Almost all of them support hex editing the game code by entering game genie/gameshark type codes which allow for stuff like infinite health, ammo, whatever.

I guess that about covers it. My recommendation for your first emulator: Winkawaks - it covers capcom and snk ames which gives you a big rich selection of games to emulate and play with. The SNES emulator is also great for nostalgia... play snes zelda again, or super punchout.
Winkawaks also supports kaillera. Kaillera is a serious attempt at making these games playable online with/against other people. If an emulator supports kaillera, in theory you can play any game on that emulator online with a friend. Since winkawaks supports it, you can play a zillion fun 2D fighting games and shooters and beatemups online with friends or strangers.

Hey! This thing grows! I THOUGHT it was closed, whatever.... I didn't answer because I forgot my password (like always happens me), and Almaci, really: THERE IS NO PROBLEM ABOUT INSULT AND ALL THAT, OK? I don't know what to say for yo believe me, it doesn't matter now, you can forget it and all we are going to be fine...... And about the emulator, this means that we can only play demos of ps2? but not the vf4 is it?

I'm sorry if either of you were offended. Please chew some socks.

To answer your question - the only thing you can play with the incomplete PS2 emulator is 'demos' which aren't really demos of PS2 games (like something you'd find packed into a game magazine) ... they're more like little dinky graphical screen-saver type things that prove the emulator works, to some extent.
