Most of you guys probably already know this, but I haven't seen it mentioned on any of the Throw Escape threads.Yes you can only chose forward nuetral or back, but you can change your mind before you actually get thrown..

Example: Okay, I'm fighting this guy and do the lazy TE by holding g and adding p a moment later. My character just appears to guard. Ok, now that I think about it, this guy probably won't do a nuetral throw, so while continuing to hold p+g I now hold the stick at 6 ( long after I started the lazy TE ). But I change my mind again, let go of the stick, and then put it to 4. I can do this as many times as I want. When I finally get thrown, if I'm holding the right direction at the time, I'll escape.

I've tested this a number of times, in the dojo.

Don't know why everyone says you have to input the direction at the same time you add p to the g. I actually can't do it that way..

I'll probably regret this but this tecnique is really usefull against Wolf. His burning hammer has a very unique animation so you can change your neutral or back direction to forward while you see it coming. The fact that burning hammer is 16 frames helps to accomplish that.

I did not know that. I wonder if there are others.. Identifiable throws I mean.

In fact, F5 and perfect GS have the some animation, just faster.
Anyway from my experimenting it looks like the game actually have not-so-small delay if you change the direction, before it re-write it... Unless you release and press P, then it is instant.
I may be wrong, but this is what I come to when I was trying to test this thing few months ago.

I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean that if you change your TE direction you are delayed somehow?
After hitting g..+p , I can spin my joystick all to hell as long as I hold p+g, then if I push it to 6 at the last moment, I will TE a 6p+g throw.
I only started this thread, because even if this is obvious, I hadn't seen it anywhere. I had read that the direction must be entered at the same time you add the p to the g. I think that is only for evade TE's or something.

I do not remember all details, it was quite long ago, but basically it was like what I descirebd from what I remember.
May be only for evades, do not remember, but I remember that it was looking like there is delay for changing TE directions.

I thought I read here that it was a 2-3 frame delay when you switch directions?

If anyone can find a source for this it would be great. This is one of those things that might be nice to know.

This is useful in side turned when you are at a disadvantage and cannot block standing P (-9 right? You cant block the punch but you can do a fuzzy guard to duck it). It allow you to deal with both side throw and a delayed throw.

Do the fuzzy as usual (with low throw escape), stand while holding the correct direction and then switch direction in time for a delayed throw. You hold guard throughout the entire process.
I think most opponents wont try a throw that has the same direction as the side throw if they delay, so switching direction is a good idea (well, technically you have to guess a new direction for the delayed throw).
