The DLC is a very cool string but it seems too hard

    /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif + /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

The input is ridiculously fast, I can do it but not in a juggle or a real match. I'm scared to evn try cause I probably only get it off 1 in 10 times...

    Any advice Akira masters?

well i think the best thing for you to do is practice it until it feels natural. Until then just do the regular one until you feel better using that one.

If you want to do it, just practice buffering the last move REALLY fast

The trick that made all the difference for me was remembering to hit the last /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif and /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif together. Focus on accuracy and the speed will come later. Best of luck. Or just do what Sebo said. He's right /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif is a significantly more valuable move.

What about going for the easy/new way?

The one with just /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif?

To me, the 15 points of extra damage given by the longer string are not worth the pain, especially as (even) the longer one is not really a combo anymore, is it?

Doing this move is really really easy all you need to do is the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif in one motion without going back to neutral. Then you'll have enough time to finish the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif with no problem.

Can someone explain the DLC scaling? I've heard that it's got the worst scaling in this game due to damage abuse. [VF3tb had a wall juggle using DLC that did 90% hp guaranteed... ich*]

Why was it nerfed that it looks DAMN cool, but is the WEAKEST of his moves overall?

I believe it works like this

1 - AM2 designs the game so that one character is virtually the strongest but also virtually impossible to control 100% (e.g. Akira in VF2)
2 - Crazy Japanese people will spend insane amount of time practising even the most difficult move of said character so that they can get it as consistently as a punch when you press P
3 - AM2 acknowledges the fact that there's not such a thing as a difficult move to input for Japanese players and in order to re-balance the game, the damage of the crazy moves gets hampered drastically.

Final result: in VF5, Jeffry's fucking Splash Mountain does more damage than Akira's SPoD. I mean, WTF...

    OR:
    1) The DLC input isn't as hard as ppl think, you just need some practice. You won't do it after 2 days (if you just started with the game) but it can be done by a regular player. You don't need to be freakin' japanese (no offense to jap ppl).

    2) It's easy to do DLC 'cause you do it in a combo, so /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is buffered i.e. during /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif animation, leaving you more time to do the rest of the input. Other usage is not advised. This shit can be blocked easily 'cause it's not a natural combo, and hell... it leaves you at a HUGE disadvantage. (Use it only in a combo!!!)

    3) The damage is scaled properly, so DLC combos do less damage than combos ended with buffered Byakko.

    4) It's VF5, Akira has been made more beginer friendly, so plz, stop with the Akira-has-crazy-inputs myth.

According to the Black Book combos the max damage ver. C combo do end in DLC... Not buffered DblPlm...

I think you missed the point that the complexity of execution should be proportional to the damage. That's why I think it's inherently WRONG to have a Splash Mountain which takes 70 and a Shin-Iha that takes only 60 (50 if tech-rolled?) or a SPoD that takes only 67.

I don't mind Jeffry having big damage, simply the input to the high damage moves should be more difficult...

Try to understand that the moves you compare are: THROWS and STRIKING ATTACKS. It's like saying that Double Palm after Punch, isn't as damaging as a neutral throw. Do you see my point?
Don't compare those two. And for cryin' out loud, Jeffry is a huge character with strong throws. Just beacause /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif is easy to do, doesn't mean it'll take little dmg. Which also means difficult input=huge dmg....NOT!

If you insist to compare throws to striking moves, why not compare neutral throw (40) to SPoD (67). NOW the difficult one wins.... satisfied?
    Whatever...

I love the fact that Akira has difficult inputs, especially for moves that don't offer a lot of payoff. He's the most fun fighting game character to play ever. If VF6 has a character where you have to DLC to do a standing /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, I will play that character.

Fair point, I must have though of it as it was in VF2. You'll have to reckon, however that the position in which you have to be to use it might resemble that of a throw. Sure you can't make the SPoD work like /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif.

I still think that DLC and SPoD should have higher damage, ffs. They are so ridicolously harder to pull off than any other move.
I don't see why the difficulty of the input should not reflect on the moves damage...
Of course, the relationship should be marginally decreasing, but it should be there.

tbh, i'm a kage main but i have messed around with most characters

buffering a dlc is just about as hard as a knee after a tft for kage.

its all just about the buffering which comes with practice
bet those who managed to do akira's knee at least a steady 60% now would look back and used to think that move was impossible as well

Although kinda OT, Sebo's post is a brilliant reminder of the fact that, DLC is not that fundamental. Even more so now that it keeps being powered down.

In all honesty, the simplified version does only 25% less damage and it's about 10 times easier to do. Basically, assuming you get the easy version all the time, you should never drop it in favour of the harder version unless you get the latter 8 times out of 10.

    47 × 10 = 470
    62 × 8 = 496

There are definitely people who can DLC every time, it just has to be fast and accurate too. I've noticed that you can't miss any directionals and get it either. It's annoying but I think it give you something to aspire too.

There were combos is Street Fighter I bet you couldn't do either (the Flash Kick combo where you hit them with firce as you're at nuetral on they way up with Guile? There were people who cloud do that combo too but not me!) If you can do a combo that does 2 points less damage what really is the difference? Just being flashy, but you're online, so only two people will ever know you did it any way.

I know it does the max damage, but you can get close. It's a ring out tool too, but the nerfed version will still carry them the same distance, so it's still fair...

well take the "just about as hard" with a slight pinch of salt /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
i was emphasizing more on the buffering practice. i found dlc easier to do because of the rhythm to it honestly, but it could be just me.

knowing when to tap the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif was the key for me whereas attempting a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif in 4 was a slightly harder combo for me with the transition of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif. for DLC, the joystick transition for the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif from /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif flows more naturally for the hands. anyone understand the gist i'm trying to say because it does sound like nonsense now

I know, what I was trying to tell was simply "don't try and execute the full DLC in favour of the easy version unless you get the tough one 80% of the time".
But now that I think of it, you can probably try to do the full version and, even if you fail, the easy one will come out...
