Okay, i've got a couple of movies up on the DLxtra.com website from our first July Tournament. Better get them quick as I'll only have them in there for one week starting now... Although they are Tekken related, I do have some VF4 footage, so they will be up soon... Just need to do the ones on my HD first...

I know you get 1000 insults a day about your site design, but really, who was the retard who decided to have a mostly blank page with a logo, and then when you click the enter button, a popup with a bit of text that you could easily have put into the entry page?

did I mention the popup's default size requires one to scroll it a ways before you can find the bottom scroll button to read the rest of the new?
    (mousewheel notwithstanding)

    Steve,

Why can't you guys record matches/make movies that of a half decent quality? Those vids are complete garbage quality. People will download larger files - it's worth it.

    cheers,

To be frank Llanfair, I really don't give a damn whether they are high quality, low quality, able to view on a TV or on a mobile phone. If you don't like them, fine, your entitled to your opinion... But saying what you said doesn't help me at all to make movies look better.

Creed.. I know what ya saying, but right now i don't have time to do anything about since i have jobs coming left right and center. Maybe in a years time I'll redesign the main DL site when I have knowledge on ASP, MySQL and MS Access.

heh, I think everyone poked a sore spot.

I don't think the site needs to be fancier (SQL etc), just a little nicer on the eyes and easier to navigate. Stuff like ditching the popup and just making news items appear in the main window, for example.

As for video encoding, if your camera produces low res stuff then I guess there's nothing to do, but if you're re-encoding from high res to supergrainytinyvision, there are some nice tools out there that will let you set up a batch of movies to encode with high quality divx/mp3 specifications... you just line 'em up and walk away, let the PC crank on it in the background. That's easier if you don't want to sit around waiting for individual movies to encode one by one.

Things like MySQL is needed for what we want in the future. And its not gonna be for dlxtra.com but for the main website.

In terms of the dlxtra site though, the pop-up can be manually resized for larger resolutions.. i don't have the JavaScript for automatic resizing though, but if someone can direct me to code then thats helpful. But fthe reason for JavaScript is to get rid of those stupidly big bars at the top of the internet browser. You can skip all the Java bull by going to www.dlxtra.com/news_page/news.htm That will do for now as a solution. But as I said before, I don't want to do anything until a learn a bit more coding which will take me a year or so.

I rather have small files sizes rather than big cause most people in UK are stil using 56k modems. My USB capture device can only capture max of 320 x 240 and it seems i get stupid black boarders around the RAWs for some reason meaning i have to crop the raw to fit the 320 x 240 final size. Of course i can down grade the window to 240 x 180 but that will be too small. Also the movies weren't suppose to be viewed double size or full screen. Its not like you guys have to read subtitles where better quality video is better for it.
What I do need are Data Rate Control settings for DivX, which no one i've asked can help me on.

Easy there. Of all people to absorb criticism without getting defensive it should the dynamic leaguers. Steve, look, all I saying is that with the DL having all this hype about how great everything is (players who rule the world, sponsorships, events, TV, etc) I expected a higher quality vid, that's all.

Do you guys have access to the VF4 machine's PCB? If so, go for the direct feed to a VCR and cap that, maybe.

    cheers,

nah.. we get the footage from the consoles direct but like i said in TekkenZaibatsu, need more money (like £4000) to buy better equipment. Anyway, grabbing a VCR doesn't make a difference since you still need a decent capture device able to capture at 720 x 480.
