    1 Part Tony Hawk + 1 Part Grand Theft Auto + 1 Part Tomb Raider = T.H.U.G.

    Go skating!
    Steal Cars!
    Mack on the honeys!

Create your own boards, tricks, characters, parks, etc.
You can even have your image put into the game to be the skaters face. So you can *Actually* create yourself in the game.

Finally they're getting on track. THPS4 just didn't do it for me. Seeing as how Neversoft is making Disney skateboarding, that might be worth checking out too. That will be cool doing a Nollie 540 Kickflip McTwist with Mickey eh? /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, I'm buying the Disney skate game to play with my best friend's son (age 3). I think it's a good game to help him toward one of my biggest enjoyments (skating) and not feel so guilty about buying it. /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I liked THPS4 a lot. It lowered the ridiculous score amounts, tried to lower the massive combo potential, and gave a very open enviroment to skate in with interesting lines. The objective system was also nice to help cut down on it's usual repetative nature. THPS2 is definitely my favorite, but THPS4 is a solid 2nd place. Although, I am still a bigger Thrasher: Skate and Destroy since it is closer to real life.

Thrasher was an awesome game! I ussualy play a THPS game for about 2 weeks before I get board of them and pretty much never touch them again, but for some reason Thrasher never gets old...I only wish they made a sequel instead of making crappy BMX games /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif.

Being a massive fan and former consultant for Z-Axis it wasn't their call on the subject of a Thrasher sequel. Rockstar decided that it didn't sell well enough and didn't match their new company image (GTA series) to merit a sequel, so they put the license on ice. Acclaim offered Z-Axis the chance to do Dave Mirra games and they jumped at the chance for work. I personally find the Dave Mirra games to be great even if Dave Mirra 2 is a bit buggy (Stupid testing schedule cut short by Acclaim /versus/images/graemlins/mad.gif) and am proud to have my name in it and my very own grind gap named after me. /versus/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

THUG should do pretty good since it's basically a collaboration work of the Neversoft team and Z-Axis Ltd. (They were recently bought by Activision) for Activision.

I am still waiting for a more realistic skating game and I hear that Rockstar is about to lose the Thrasher License. Supposedly their is already a proposed company to buy it and rumor is that Rainbow Studios (Matt Hoffman 2) will be the Dev team. Somebody just bought the license to do Big Brother skate games as well, but not sure who. Most of this stuff is just rumor.

The game sounds neat...I'll probably check it out if I ever get a chance to monkey wrench evo out the playstation...of course if it comes out on another platform then I won't have to cheat...just keep a little something on the side.

I do have to say though, I've never played a skateboarding game that did a good job of rendering in any way, shape or form the "experience" of skateboarding...none of them have made me want to go out and ride NOW. Oddly enough, 1080 (that snowboarding game on N64) did this very thing quite often...see, they had this way you could do big, drifty backside 180's that were a little out of control & on edge tailslides/lipslides on the halfpipe...this stuff didn't get you points or anything because the designers didn't consider them to be tricks but it didn't matter cause the shit was cool.

Oh yeah...for some reason I really, really like Akira's evo knee animation. /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

1080 Snowboarding still remains the best snowboarding game on the planet.
