While this was the second ever EB Expo held, it was the first time Fighting Games featured as part of their E-Sports lineup which included Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown. It was also the first time Australia's best players competed in VF5FS! Continue reading for results and footage of the finals!

Qualifiers for the EB Expo Finals were held in 3 capital cities: Melbourne (www.couchwarriors.org), Sydney (www.ozhadou.net) and Brisban (www.buttonsmash.com.au). Top 4 finishes, along with last minute qualifiers on the Friday, formed the entrants to this final tournament. Tournament format was double elimination, first to 3 games.

If any of you watched the video, you would have noticed that I was dropping combos faster than a whore's undies during happy hour. The main reason for this, as I mentioned in the interview, was my awkward seating position and having to "balance" the joystick on my lap. So many of Kage's [4][6][K][+][G][K]![K] finishers turned into [3][K][+][G], and simply dashing forward was harder than it should have been.

Despite these obstactles and somehow managing to deal with them, these were still far from ideal playing conditions. So what I'm wondering is what options exist for joystick placement during tournaments. The tables on which the TVs/Monitors are placed are too high for use (for me), and often result in the TV/Monitor shaking around due to rigorous joystick movements.

My play setup at home involves a small, height-adjustable, table that I can situate over my lap. It kind of mimics an arcade setup. But obviously, tables of this kind aren't portable for me to be taking them around to tournaments.

Would it be unreasonable to demand a stable platform on which to place your joystick at future tournaments? Do portable solutions exist?

Megadeth, Myke, I'll personally see to it that there is a VF set up at the Maquarie Uni get-together. If you guys are keen It'd be great to get some matches in against you both! Congrats to both of you and Alex for Ebgames expo too, great set of matches!

MadeMan, sounds good man, but I just checked my calendar and I'm busy during the day and 50/50 for the evening as well. How late do you think it'd run on Saturday?

Myke, I do not know how options at your home/country are, but here around (Czech rep) it is not that hard to find carpetners who will be able to create very solid portable construction(s) capable to do what you are asking for. I believe it will not be different where you live..?
If you have such problems you are describing, it may be worth it probably

How portable are we talking though? Portable enough to carry in a backpack? Or carry separately?

dunno, the carpetner I know is doing everything based on your demands.
Overall I will say board size, with the legs being removable / folding is the easiest solution. But in some other cases (it was not for playing with stick for sure :) ) I saw custom solutions where even the board was 2-part.
Dunno what the weight will be tought.

Myke: Not sure on how late, but the event says 'until we all get tired' which makes me think that it's going to be until quite late. :p

Finally got round to watching this. Megadeath's got a mean jab and solid play. Alex's counter hit combos were great too. Congrats to everyone for a great show.

Myke, were you doing delay throws or something? There were a few throws you did which seemingly came from nowhere. Even just watching I felt thrown off. Always a pleasure to watch you.
