You gotta understand that some people play it for the spirit of competition and to have fun and prove themselves in a game of wits and all that stuff, and sometimes when you take trash talk too far and to a personal level(whether you think you're taking it that far or not is irrelevant) then it makes people uncomfortable and not want to associate with you or be your friend. Whether you want to or not, you're representing VFDC too and by doing stuff like this you make people like Myke look bad, and that's kind of messed up especially if he didn't do anything terrible to you to even cause you to act this way. You force people to have to calm you down somehow because you're trying to shit on their wellbeing and what they stand for, and that's not very cool.

 

Frash threatened to jump me in person at LA, so save the lecture for him. I did this specifically to bait him, because I knew from the first time I played him that his game's foundation really wasn't all that strong, despite how good his offense was. I used him as an example, because he is a scrub who clearly hasn't earned his licks like I have (ask maddy, sh_, kamoyaji or shou about that). And yet, he was the "best" player of my character in the US, because he won some random EC tournament. Sorry, it doesn't work that way, especially not in NAVF where no one knows the matchups or has solid fundamentals. It's just going to be different between each player for the most part, unless you do your homework like maddy (just an example) had done with VF4.

Imho, Myke deserves nothing more than to look bad for letting the community suck as much as it does. He does a lot, and he is a pretty brilliant and genuinely nice person, but he doesn't have the time to enforce the bare minimum of pedagogical standard on this forum to keep the bullshit theory fighter separate from the nitty gritty, etc. I explained this to him, and my rules thread is still up there in New Starter, so that's the best he can do with the time he has I guess. I quit because I felt like I was being counter-trolled or just misunderstood out of laziness or being taken with a grain of salt.

I find it absolutely funny that someone like EmOX would be concerned about the pedagogical nature of forums like this. The pedagogy ends when threads concerning you are created. To better animate lets take a look at your last couple of posts.

Note: If you havent caught on yet, its funny cause the discourse you initiate i.e. concerned about the pedagogical nature of these forums contradicts with you logic about how you dont care about what people say.

1. You teach kids to take "hype" shit too seriously.
2. You teach kids how to talk shit though a microphone instead infront of people's faces. Technically this has a net negative effect because one is more likely to get his ass owned in real life when he doesn't know the purpose of self censorship and thinks life is a game that we play behind tvs and the internet

1. I'm almost pretty sure that when it comes to playing "real life virtua fighter" he can probably beat your ass. The funny part is would you have the nuts to say the kind of smack talk infront of our faces in real life. Or is this another one of your "life pedagogical moments" that you want to animate to children who are on forums that it one is safe to talk shit.
2. You are teaching kids to take a one-sided view of the world when it comes to perception. You claim that his foundations are not solid when that is probably a generality across all NAVF players. You teach people to isolate and make excuses by blaming generalities on a single person. Is your logic so flawed as to accuse the reason NAVF players suck is because Frash does not have his foundations right? And yet you are comparing yourself to having mastered foundations and knowing people who have mastered foundations.
3. Which leads me to my next point. At what point does one have to prove that he has mastered foundations if we accept the assumption/generality that everyone in the NAVF realm has no real "solid" foundations? at what point during a fight do we say "well just because he slipped up and did not block a d+P or did not capitalize on -30 frames" do we admit that people do not have solid foundations. Obviously there is always an Ideal player i.e people who everyone look up to. But there are always those who succeed because their shit is original and may/may not emulate. Which is not a reason to berate someone just because they owned you. We are only human and being human allows us to learn from our mistakes, spur some type of innovation and set relative standards. Your relative standards are arbitrary and you expect everyone to follow that specific sort of way.

On the berating of Myke and the "pedagogy"
1. Trash Talk on threads are inevitable in a world where there are threads for talking about character specific strategy and threads for other things as well. The latter promotes competitive spirit where trash talking is inevitable, but never through excessive berating and agitation.
2. You are teaching the worst form of trash talk by giving no warrants behind claims. Take a page out of my book by learning how to trash talk and being smart at the same time. Just because you learned the word "pedagogy" from your SAT I vocab practice doesn't mean you can utilize the full meaning of it.
3. WTF is the bare minimum? the arbitrary list of rules you placed up on the "new starter" thread where no one looks at past day 1 or since you mentioned it. If anything, myke would be upholding an amazing standard by regulating your forum posts.

2. I'll concede that fundamentals dont matter on XBL, but online play does serve more benefits e.g. practicing of fundamentals, exposure to different play styles, communication, etc. Check your facts.
3. If you are so afraid to get hit in real life, either A. dont trash talk online because the discourse we say in general should be held accountable (i.e. racial profiling, calling all muslims "islamic fundamentalists"). or B. dont walk out of your house for fear you might get hit by somebody random. Thats pretty much what your logic translates too.
4. Get better options or tell him the other options he has in life. Because apparently you are teaching kids exceptions to rules and that you are the only exception.
