Ah, of the moves that Akira has, his longest 'semi-canned' string attacks are either his AS3 [Akira Special 3] or his Dragon Lance Cannon. [that's just my name for it to discern it from the easier to do, lesser damaging Dragon Lance Combo (ends with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif instead of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif] To me, a normal canned combo is one that consists of no joystick inputs so for the purpose of this discussion, just work with me here... Akira's largest canned combos are two hits lol... mashers need not apply.

Since our best bet for juggles stems from either these two moves, I was wondering how people put people into situations where DLC does massive damage.

Now from what I've read here and elsewhere, the DLC has a much more larger scaling than in previous Virtua Fighters. In VF3tb, if he hit you in the spine with his DLC, you've lost nearly all your health, in this game, this is clearly not the case. On air juggles, his DLC loses I think more than 50% of it's real damage potential.

My question here is where have you found DLC to shine? Also, mistakes from DLC?

First and foremost, NEVER DO DLC TO ATTEMPT A RING OUT! AT least don't finish it. I remember fighting Konjou Akira with it and I rung myself out even though he's floating out ring first. The game registers the ring out on the one who LANDS out of the ring first. So if you juggle your foe with a high float out of the ring and your feet touch outside the ring before your foe does, YOU LOSE...

For safe ringouts, I think juggling with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif is best. It's safe, silly looking, and does more damage than some would suspect.

This move will NOT combo on someone's side or back sadly. On wall slam, this is considered the 'evil' follow up if not shoulder ram or DblPlm.

There's also the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif//forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif fake step follow up if you ignore the finishing body check. You end in backturned stance at point blank with your foe, what would you do then?

I thought the DLC against the wall trick was to DLC them into the first wall splat, then bounce them and then into Double Palm. So you do the DLC as the first part of the combo (no scaling) and then you bounce combo them after the last hit of the "real" DLC wall splats them.

NICE ideas. I definitely need to check the DLC one gernburgs mentioned and the STUN PALM O' DOOM I'm guessing only works if the elbow connects cleanly. A backturned SPoD must be truely embarassing as hex0rs...

    0_0

P.S. DLC will never combo on ground hits, even if the opening kick is a CH. The elbow never has enough stun property to allow the body check to hit, which sux in my not-humble opinion...

What I REALLY want to know is how much disadvantage you are at if you cancel dlc into backturned. In HLP, they cancel it into guard, because their opponent is usually really fast at punishing with some kind of attack after the cancel.

Was the DLC a proper 3-hit once-you-got-the-first-one-you'll-take-the-other-two-too combo in the previous games?

In VF2 and VF3, I think it was yeah.

Edit: Wait, now i'm not sure if it was even in VF2?!

The only way to get the entire DLC to combo on the ground is with the wall. The second hit (elbow) must induce a wall hit in order for the bodycheck to be guaranteed, giving you a wall splat.

Franz, no, it never was a natural combo.

No, it has always been essentially aircombo only. Ive tried the homestay wall-dlc but its hard as hell to get to work properly at dojo... not to mention the risk is somewhat...massive.

I think the shoulder ram is a safer bet against walls/for ring outs than the DLC, correct?

DLC is good for carring people in air combos (/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif - DLC etc), but if you think youre getting too close to the edge you can just do the evade instead of bodycheck.

ps. If you do air combo near wall, most of the time you get most damage if you end it in a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif(wallhit) -> groundhit Knee/Shoulderram

Shini'ha is best for ring out throw attempts if the enemy blocks too much. his TFT can ring YOU out if they break it.

I did find that if I AM about to ring out with DLC, it's best to just stop at the elbow. You need to be wide awake to do that though...

I'm not sure, but I think the combo MIGHT work if it's a counter hit to the enemy's spine but the chance of that happening are ya know, zilch...

Has anyone found this to be effective after his sabaki's? I can't land the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif bounce after them. I'm thinking DLC is the answer to ANY non bounce-able juggles, though I'm wondering if anyone has found better.

    Great ideas/questions btw...

Usually if you get a successful sabaki, you get a crumple, rather than a standard juggle. You should just be able to low punch or something, which will knock them out of the crumple animation, and then you can do things like bounce them. I don't know much about akira specifically, so you can't tell you any more than that.

Use /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after successful sabakis. The first gives you better recovery. Nothing like a successful elbow sabaki into palm-elbow (wall) KNEE.

If you can get vital area crumple and your opponent's light enough try /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif -> /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. I'm not exactly sure who it can land on. Need more experimentation.

On lighter characters, use Danny13's combo...

Sabaki-(stomach crumple)> Yoho> Double Jump Kick... Works on lightweights, BIG damage! They won't like getting sabaki'd at all after you land this combo.

Danny13 has a very, very good Akira, he gives great advice.

Can one Sabaki, Yoho, then DLC? Substituted combos are fine but this is a DLC exploration thread so I'm just curious...

I've tried it on some of the gals but the elbow fails to connect and I get the Ground body check finish, which is odd looking...

Don't know if you already know, but i recently found this combo.

After Yoho, most damaging combos are /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif,/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif.
Recently i found in dojo that you can substitute /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif with the DLC. In the incomplete versione (ending with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif) it does only 2 points less damage than the previous combo, so i think that in the complete dragon lance cannon combo (which unfortunately i'm not yet able to do) it should have an enormous damage potential. So basically this are the combos:

    - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif
    - /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif
    - KNEE, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif, /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif

I didn't test it on every character and i don't know if after /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif you can put more that one /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif before proceeding with /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. Someone with better hands than mine should try this stuff.

You can't put more than 1 /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif. The knee just isn't fast enough imo. On the heavies, it never works. I just go for standing punch then dblplm or /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif (Renkentai)

    Damage-wise, it's definitely a combo worth noting, though I'm still in the camp of /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif x 3 then /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif

here's a last little tidbit for the mighty DLC before I run out of ideas...

I believe that if you nail the first two hits on normal/counter hit, they'll combo and if you're in fear of them blocking the 3rd [since the wall didn't splat them], you can hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/u.gif/ /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif and then immediately hold /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d_.gif [do it early, if you do the downward evade, it's auto-buffered so no reason to let go of stick] and mash the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif button.

I've found that you can easily clear the people who refuse to block low with this move and the ones that do block low will have to deal with either a backturned /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif or a /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif. Best case would be you 'train' them to block low and WHAM SPOD! ^_^ The move CAN be interrupted by those super fast jabber types so if it fails, you may have to consider just finishing the DLC normally and hope for the best. Good luck peeps!
