Zero-Chan, Grace is a fox, and was portrayed to be intelligent though had an attitude due to her grief but, the template of Sports (Ice skating) was still there and that is why I didn't give her a mention.

Murasame, I'll admit that I forgot Jax but, though his occupation as an US Special Forces agent is fine, that he's the big Strong Guy is just more of the same.

Well thought out variety is what I crave.

Your opinions would change if you have a syringe held up against your throat because you were reaching into your wallet offering some spare change when they asked for some.

"If I were black I definitely wouldn't be amused by Dee Jay... "
I have a black friend who is very amused by Dee Jay and thinks he's a great character design.

Have your friend compare the calibre of Dee Jay's design to the likes of Sean from Street Fighter 3 or Kiros Seagull in Final Fantasy 8 or Eddie Gordo from Tekken3

Dee Jay rubs me the wrong way. That gigantic cheesy grin the constant thumbs up and supposedly Up beat Jamaican personality. And the way he always says Mon.

I dare your friend to go to Kingston and say Mon in every sentence he speaks. He'll be shot dead within the week.

    something else to think about,

what about most women in video games? most are dressed in skimpy outfits, with huge tits and perfect asses. i guess games can be sexist too. how often do you see a gigantic beastly woman fighter (like choi in snk games)?? never.

Even the actual mentioning of "breast bounce" in DoA is just tragic beyond all limits. There was no option for "moving pigtails" in VF1, now was it?
Gimmics such as these are pathetic, and now I'm just using the most subtile word I can find.

Bouncing breasts are inevitable, it's part of the all round physics of a character in a game. You have the moving clothes, you have the moving hair, naturally we would end up with moving tits.

    As physics it's fine.

    As a feature it's stupid.

Eddy Gordo - translates as "fat man" in portuguese...thats a good thing? I guess it could be a joke (almost as much as a joke as the representation of Capoeira in that game...wtf crack addict shit is that? They reduced capoeira from a brilliant system to fucking acrobatics...) I guess black is also how you associate yourself....I never viewed Sean as black, more just tanned...I Guess we gotta get into decent...

Sean is a boring design, same as ken and ryu. My friend likes deejay because he does funny, stereotypical things. Well, at least we find them funny. Oh, btw, do u realize that Sean is the underpowered joke character of SF3? Not to the extent that dan from the alpha series is, but still.

"I dare your friend to go to Kingston and say Mon in every sentence he speaks. He'll be shot dead within the week. "

Getting shot for saying mon a lot?

Speaking of Breast Bounce, has anyone noticed VF4 Dural's (at least in the arcade) sickly looking breast stretch?! Reminds me of some Mediteranean porno featuring women in the "WAY over age" department.

That or two slinkies wrapped in some flexible material.

At least Sean doesn't take the piss. Boring, maybe so but his path is respectable. People don't take too kindly to being made fun of unless there's something in the culture already that makes light of the joke especially when it's something close to the heart of society.

Take English stereotypes. All English men say "Tally Ho" "Toodle Pip" and "It just isn't Cricket". People stopped saying that in the 40's. But people have developed a tolerance to it as it points the finger at the old "Posh Snobs" Britain which doesn't exist with the exception of the Royal family in what is now a multicultural country.

Now in Jamaica, not only is there stigma about being a colony of the British Empire (people are very touchy about what is Proper) but there is a lot of political turmoil with a power struggle in the government as we speak. Those adverts you see on TV showing Jamaica as a place where everyone is happy and just sits at the beach chilling when they're not eating lobster or getting high on Ganja is utter nonsense.

People are on edge and the general population isn't too well off financially. Ochirios is the tourist part of the country, it's the only place where you'll find anything to support such stereotypes as everyone who lives there has dedicated their livelihood to the tourist trade in order to put some food on their plates.

Kingston, the capital is a no no for anyone who can't instantly fit in. After dark, pray you can get a lift or you'll get caught in a whole lot of trouble.

Now the above is just the current temperament of the nation. People aren't to "Laid back" right now. So I dare your friend to go to Kingston, at any time of the day make fun of their accent, make continuos references to maracas while smiling like a crack head. He'll get a beating that he'll never forget.

I don’t think Jeffrey is Black in the descended from Africa sense. Dark skinned yes, but given his origin (Australia) and his physical appearance, I think he is Aborigine. If anyone has seen the movie “Once Were Warriorsâ€Â, which was actually from New Zealand and dealt with the Maori people, any person can clearly see Jeffrey is based upon the indigenous people of that region. They listen to something similar to Reggae, often wear their hair in dreadlocks and tend to have naturally dense frames with heavy musculatures. Notice the girth of his waistline is not fat, but overdeveloped muscle bellies. Before anyone refutes me I’d seriously advise taking a class on the indigenous cultures of the south pacific. You’d be surprised how many people insist Jeffery is Jamaican despite the fact that his profile clearly states that he is Australian. Dolts!

As for Vanessa Lewis, her country of origin is listed as unknown if I recall correctly, so despite the fact that she also has dark skin, for all we know she could Native American or East Indian or an Eskimo.

Nxw0016 is correct in saying that it’s a joke to try and identify someone’s ethnicity just by looking at them. It’s even worse when a person with limited interaction with many cultures, or has failed to read enough books, is making the assumption

Koori is the proper name for Aborigines as the latter is derogatory. Actually I never knew Jeffrey was Koori until I read his profile.

Famous Koori's in world Anthony Mundine(boxing, big mouth), Cathy Freeman(200m Track), Ella brothers (Rugby Union).

Yes, Koori refer to themselves as black.

The Maori also refer to themselves as black, but the term black in america, and in the context of this topic, tends to refer to someone of african decent, in which case Jeffery would not classify as black, much in the same way Russians are not considered white, but Slavic, despite their also having fair skin.

I dont think Jeffery is a negative representation due to his strong man persona. He's just a rugged outback kinda guy that spears sharks. That said, I would like to see Sega maybe incorporate an a "true" black fighter that is an actual martial artist, like akira or Jacky. When I was younger and studied Kyokushin Karate, two of the black belt instructors were African American men.

And Just to round things out, how about throwing in a hispanic Brazilian, or whatever, Jiu-Jitsu grappler.

To be honest, I would like sega to buy the rights to Capcom's Makoto (SF3:TS) character and put her in VF5. A japanese, female, judo fighter would be totally cool, and her overall design is one of Capcom's finest.

If your in the Outback then there's usually no sea FYI... then your applying a sterotype to Australians. Outback types don't have that kind of physique anyway.

No, not all of us have electricity in Australia, and yes we all have pet koalas or kangaroos.

I said, "Outback kinda guy," meaning rugged, FYI. I didnt say he was "FROM" the outback.

Oh dear god, how dare I sterotype Australians as being outdoorsman. I should seek sensitivity training.

In regards to Dee Jay... Just a bit of interesting info. His character was not actually designed by a Japanese staff member, but an American. The SSF2 producers just somehow liked the design and decided to implement. The American guy (whose name I forget at the moment, I'm sure it's around somewhere) suddenly had this HUGE ego trip. Designing a stereotypical Jamaican kickboxer suddenly makes you some sort of fighting game god! He left Capcom and went to start his own fighting game project based on his ideals... which resulted in... Weaponlord. Yes, Weaponlord. *shudder* And that's the last we heard of him, thankfully.
