Ok this sounds weird and noob-like but here it is anyway.

I was playing versus mode with my bro, fighting Akira V Jeffry, and in the middle of the round I actually evaded his throw attempt. I saved the replay to make sure that was actually what happened and it is.

His throw didn't whiff or anything, I just evaded it like you would a strike. This breaks the basic rule of the game as far as I know. So, is there any kind of weird circumstance where this happens? Or was it just the VF god's lending me a hand from upstairs or something?

I'll try and get the replay on the net so you can see it for yourself.

Most likely... he was trying to throw you while you were in a recovering animation, and you happen to recover when his throw is determined as "whiffed" by the game system, and right when you recover you evaded. So it gives the illusion that you 'evaded' the throw... if anything the evade is a failed evade... now if the evade happened to be the fast and successful one... I'll be damned. Just try to post the replay if you can.

The evade came straight after I was crouching. I didn't throw an attack so it can't have been the recovery thing. And it was the fast one that makes the "swoosh" noise so I don't think it was failed either.

I should practice this technique, once I nail it down I'll be invincible /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

    Ok here's how it went.

We're about 4 dashes apart so I dash in once and crouch to try and bait his knee.

He sees right through me, dashes in and tries to splash mountain me while I evade.

I evade his throw anyway, give him a beating and then pause the game when we realise what just happened.

Seriously, I don't think there's an alternative to this one, unless Myke or someone knows what the deal is. You'll have to see it to believe it probably.

I highly doubt you got a successful (fast) evade against a throw attempt, so yeah, let's see that shit already! /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I've evaded (I know what an evade is) INTO Goh's little side-step trip up kick. As far as I know, that's not supposed to happen either.

I don't follow. Why is this not supposed to happen? And which side-step trip was it? He's got two that look fairly similar.

hey, if you mean MC dodge into the trip up kick, I think that's normal. If you mean MC dodge and you went one direction and goh's trip went the other, that isn't supposed to happen.

I honestly think from a crouched state you rose and evaded JUST after your brother's throw window expired. Thus making it seem like "evading a throw"

This is also similar to "standing" into a throw where your opponent attempts a throw and you get snagged into it (because it take 8 frames for a throw to come out)

Man... shit really happens when euros are at the wheels. First an euro gets an auto win from a ps2 pausing itself, now we get euros dodging throws. HOT DAMN!! someone need to write an faq on this shit.

I figured it would get doubted which is why I was debating whether to even bring it up or not but it seems kinda important so I did anyway.

I know I didn't crouch under his throw and then evade since

    1. His arms weren't even fully extended when I started to evade.

    2. It WAS the fast evade you get when you dodge a strike.

But like I said, I wouldn't believe it until I saw it either so you'll have to just wait until I take it (the memory card) round to my friends house and get it online.

I'll keep it away from milk and dog piss until then /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't use Goh, at all, so I don't know the command. The move is the one where he sidesteps (up or down) and does the low kick (looks like a trip). Used quite a bit when your TR, assuming you know which way they'll dodge afterwards.

It goes to the throw when successful, and Goh throws the opponent behind him. What I'm saying is, (from my POV), Goh stepped down (towards the camera), I dodged the kick (down) towards the camera. From experience, if you dodged the same direction that Goh did the sweep, he got you. Then again, it could've been delayed and I'm all turned around.

I only play against one Goh regularly, and that's not even that regular.

That trip thing of Goh's is actually really situational. Sometime I would attack and get tripped, it seems as though doesn't matter which way he trips, as long as you are sufficiently close to him, you will get tripped some how. I have had times when I MC dodge away from the trip and still got tripped... and also sometimes I would MC dodge into the trip and gotten away with it. It's very very situational imo.

Hmmm... strange, but good info nonetheless.
Looks a bit queer to me, but I didn't write the game. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif
