Evading has... evolved?

Has anyone figured out the new Evolution rules on evade attacks? What we've noticed.
    - first, they just don't seem to work.
    - then, suddenly, in the middle of a fight, they suddenly do...?
    - my friend Ryan (Jacky) claims he's pulling it off whenever he wants by hitting[8][8][3_],[G]+[P]+[K] but it isn't working when I (Sarah) try it. Sounds wierd, but then he is a lot more nimble with the d-pad than I.
    - When they do work for me (Sarah), I usually feel that it was part of a "quick evade" (timed to the opponent's attack). But I'm still not sure...
    - Brad and Goh definitely seem to have brought whole new evasive thinking to the game (Goh's [8]/[2],[G]+[P]+[G] and [8]/[2], [P]+[K], and Brad's [8]/[2]/[6], [G]+[P]+[K] are fascinating new elements.) Possible indication that evading has been entirely rethought by AM2 on a global level?
    - If and when someone gets a handle on this thing, I'm sure a lot of us would like to hear about it. Are the VF4E fighters all going to handle evade attacks differently, or did the timing just get jacked up to the next level? Did the controls change?
    - Addendum question. I always seemed to notice that Jacky evaded more skillfully in VF4 than the other players. My imagination? Is it Ryan's superior fingerwork, or is Jacky really as evasive as Ronald Reagan was when his key Iran/Contra witness died of a cocaine overdose /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif? Do VF4/4E fighters have different evade timings and distances, like they have different throw timings and distances?

I'm really curious about this stuff, and anyone who can answer authoritatively will be my new hero. See you on the field.

The evade attack have indeed changed a bit I believe. Now it works like how it was meant to work. Tap [8] or [2], and then the moment after you start evading, hit [P]+[K]+[G]. Don't do [8]+[P]+[K]+[G], do [8][P]+[K]+[G]. Think of it as delaying the button press after you tap [8] or [2]. Hope this helps.

This it seems helps to create better evasion guessing games. Allowing you to evade attacks, but not commit to follow-up attacks until you get a better idea of what the opponent is doing. Not a lot of time, but just enough to create moments of panic (sometimes on both sides>_<).

Brad and Goh have their style variants which allow for basically situational evasions. Look at Myke's Brad Dojo in his sway section about how certain situations work with some of the sway techniques. Very helpful. Goh I haven't played much. He seems like a hard character to learn, but I have seen the comp be very vicious with him.

After about six more hours with Sarah, I am willing to say that [8],[2],[G]+[P]+[K] works reliably... I tried Ninjnsan's advice and it just hasn't panned out for me... could be my clumsiness, tho.

NinjinSan has it right about the delay. You may be waiting just a bit too long before continuing the move. It seems that [8]+[P]+[K]+[G] and [8][P]+[K]+[G] both work. The [8][P]+[K]+[G] just seems more consistent. As soon as you see/hear your evade start successfully press all 3.
