Evo Matches from Singapore

    A few weeks ago I had a chance to stop by Singapore on the way home from a long (6 week!) vacation. During the few days I was there, I met up with danny13, ice-9 and buyaodawo81 for some great Evo matches. On one of the nights we played, I brought along my video camera and we filmed a couple of hours worth of matches.

    Unfortunately, there is a very annoying flicker (which I now know how to eliminate when filiming) but there's an even more annoying reflected light on the screen which couldn't be avoided at all. I have been told these movies are still watchable so I've put up what I felt to be the more interesting ones. The movies average at around 13mb each, and that's mainly due to my cranking up of the datarate to 1500kbs to help reduce the effect of the flickering. So, I apologise in advance for any pain and stress these movies may bring you /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    Excellent matches Myke! It's nice to watch people I've actually met playing in VF vids. Good throw escpaes on your part. The videos are worth having up. But, my god is that flicker something else.

    Aside from the flicker (you get the worst-black-bars award), the matches are great. Even the encoding is better than most feeds from camcorders.

    Yeah, Danny's Tsuwamono Akira is particularly vicious. What you all didn't see were the many matches where Danny's Akira would just cream us so fast you'd think he was playing time attack mode -- and 2/3 30s is fast enough already!

    Seriously though, going by the countless movies I've watched (and I know that doesn't account for much, but...) I would say Danny has the best Akira I've seen outside of Japan. I've been of this opinion ever since I first met him last year, so I'm glad he finally got featured in a bunch of videos! He's also a pretty good camera man too! hehe! /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    Buyaodawo81 had an extremely impressive Akira as well, but unfortunately he didn't stay long when we started filming that one night, and so it didn't get a chance to make it on the tape. His Goh also gets an honourable mention, and it's a shame he didn't play him more! I definitely thought his Sarah was his strongest character though, and was the cause of much pain and suffering for me /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    Speaking of sexy ninja's, I would definitely say ice-9's was hotter than mine. He seems to play him more methodically than me, and I thought that really showed in the close matches we'd have where he'd dominate initially, I would then start to comeback but then he'd nail me right at the end. That match which ended with me eating three consecutive sidekick staggers still gives me nightmares /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

    Shadowdean: I used windows media encoder to encode these. They were captured directly from my camcorder to my pc via firewire.

    I didn't play much of sarah. Too little VF4 made my akira become a sucky one /versus/images/icons/frown.gif

    My goh is ok. Just play him sometimes for fun. And my sarah well...... I only play her like 1 game for every 5 tokens last time heh.

    Basically too little pple play here now. I think I become alot weaker than last time. Danny is around the same except he missed some d,f+p , p now. Too little practice i guess.

    ya soo little people play VFevo that is is really sad. I have more or less stopped playing after I keep losing... to people like wilson, danny, etc... maybe wait until evo comes out on PS2.

    anyone playing during the new year holidays?.

    Wanna play can phone me lorz. But i got duty on 1st of feb. I keep forgetting things when i play. I learning KOF now liaoz. Cos I can play in camp with my campmates. Maybe tat's why.

    an iteresting akira indeed, thanks alot for the videos, and an interesting oppinion, the guy must be strong.... i'd probably agree if i did'nt experience ryan hart's however, (with all his rep, his akira is probably his speciality........ now THAT's scary /versus/images/icons/ooo.gif )

    Its ok Ice-9, u have skills. Everyone looses sometimes, it happends. I dont personally use Kage, but seeing these clips make Kage look like a really great character to use, not that he isnt good. But when u use him, u bring out the best of his skills.
