I've been trying to access that page all day.... Somehow it's still a broken link. I don't think they've uploaded the page to the server yet. Either that or it's a very very bad way of teasing VF fans...

A quick update to say that the article is back to life.

But I've heard the videos are not direct feed, they're at some trade show, and it's little kids playing. But that's a step up from ign staff /versus/images/icons/laugh.gif

K so I watched the clips... I can't post links to them because that's unethical and I don't even have the links anyway :p

The game looks good, the video is sharp... but sharp enough to say "jaggies are gone" and "textures are better"... I can't really say for sure. The lighting seems better though, and specific areas where jaggies seemed really noticeable don't seem so bad in these clips, ie the bars on vanessa's cage or the plane wings in jeff's stage. Maybe just wishful thinking.

Anyway the game looks like evo, and the gameplay itself is 10 steps up from the ign vf4 movies, though it's by no means pro. There's nice sequences like wolf low punch cut (SE variant) -> b+P (slam) -> leg break ground throw. I think it was pretty much one guy who knew what he was doing crushing a bunch of scrubs.

Anyway, so the movies are maybe worth a look even if they aren't direct feed. The text of the article is short and bland. It says "the graphics seem improved" in so many words without naming any specifics. It also mentions that they were locked into versus mode at this game show, so no way to check out quest mode, items, or other features.

Excellent. The movies do show some great detail. So much for all the winging about a Sega's choice of a PS2 port of Evo over X-box. Looks like Sony's machine has handled the job marvelously.

Will be interesting when we get a more in-depth report on the port, however.

To be fair.. while ign does cheerfully rip other sites and slap an ign logo on their stuff... I don't think they scammed these pics from watch.impress.co.jp. I say this because they're clearly higher resolution, I guess the japanese site shrunk them for the sake of web friendliness and saving space. But the ign pic shows much more detail, i.e. the jaggies =/

Check out L'hotel du PixelDropping Sur Le Fence for example..

I can understand having high-res versions of pictures already seen at other websites. If a site was offering a particular VF Evo movie and another offering the same movie but at a higher resolution then that's fine, people like to have movies (esp. ones off the net which are going to be low-res anyway) which have a nice clear picture, but it's paying for it which I don't like. I would like to think that there are other people out there that feel ripped-off because they think that they are paying for an "IGN exclusive", when those pictures and more can be found on another website.

This case is even worse, as doing a search in google for "Virtua Fighter Evolution Pictures" wouldn't return the Japanese website that featured the pictures in the first place, leaving Mr. IGN subscriber in the dark about a website that features more content than IGN.
