Finals are today. You could watch the stream at www.evo2k.com/live. I never thought I would see SOOOOOOOOOOO Many garbage ass players signed up for SFIV. It was ridiculous. There was only a few new school players that did there thing, like Philippineo Champ, Jibbo and that Fei Long player that almost took out Gootecks. If Glory or SDS went to Evo, they would of made it to the top 20 EASY. Evo this year was full of Diago fanboys and that's it. Is freaking amazing how many flow chart Kens where at Evo, lol. Is funny how the players with the best looking sticks were complete TRASH!

Whatever, Seth is getting his money and the community is getting hyped as well. Nothing wrong with that. I wonder if Tekken or BlazBlue will bring the same hype next year. Enjoy the finals, I need to get some rest right now and stop typing under the influence of sensi and stella.

did anyone catch crackfiends performance in the 5v5?

that motherfucker almost ocv'd the southwest but lost to fubar. that shit was so hype though! all those people chanting "OCV! OCV!" and seeing the southwest just go down one by one made me wish i was there- and i don't even give a shit about sf4.

wasn't able to go this year but i'm gonna wait for next year where there'll hopefully be a real bb tournament.

Hype alone, can make you want to play some of these games.

This is what VF needs in the U.S.

How do you bring hype for VF in the U.S. when there's soo much competition?

Well, you have to be in the competition for a chance to win it. Namco/Bandai is at Evo and brought Tekken 6 with them. I heard Arc Systems is there too for Blazblue. SEGA is nowhere to be found.

I think that it's pretty evident at this point that Sega's dedication is soo low from for example them not showing up when their competitors do that there is going to be no VF5R for consoles, period.
Yeah, to tell you the truth I'm not that knowledgeable to why it's a lot more popular there compared to the U.S. even though Japan is known for arcade games anyways so I don't know what to say.

Capcom had SFIV arcade machines at last year's EVO. Capcom has MvC2 HD and TvC stuff at EVO this year as well as other miscellaneous things for promotion.

Namco brought incomplete PS3 and 360 builds of T6BR for people to play this year and even held a mini tournament with prizes for the winner (two consoles and bundles of the game when they come out) which was streamed.

Aksys (or Arksys or whatever) had a Blazblue set up on multiple PS3s and you could buy copies of BB there and play the game. There is also a mini tournament that will be streamed I believe after the HDR finals which are right now.

Sega doesn't even involve itself in WCG...like they would ever do anything at EVO.

Sega's too busy with their iPhone ROMS at the moment.

It's amazing how far and how quickly they've fallen... from being the number 1 console in the US (Genesis), to rehashing old glories on a mobile phone.

wow, thanks for the compliment shinobo. I personally am just waiting for tekken at this point. I don't play sf4 all that much anymore and BB lost it's luster way too fast.

I think a lot of the hype on these games will lower once tekken is out, but who knows.

Sega makes it hard for us to enjoy the game, when everything surrounding it blows. Sega realizes how good the game is once they've got you in, they just string us along.

Seeing Evo hype really drains me on VF.

People will play or try to play any game, no matter what it is, that gets up to grand stage such as that. That's the payoff that makes you feel good, and VF in the U.S. just doesn't have that and it's all thanks to Sega not giving us updated resources.

Watching something like Evo are something related always reminds me that I'm playing the wrong game.

SFIV finals were insane. Justin came back against Daigo to force a final first-to-three playoff and it came down to a final first-to-three set which went to the last match again. Daigo won the last match 2-0 in rounds to win the SFIV finals and become international SFIV world champion.

There were thousands and thousands of spectators...and a full IGN production crew recording the entire event plus a few local media coverage as well. Not to mention everyone had a digital camera or camcorder.

Sega nowhere to be seen. VF5R even announced to consoles could have been promoted like fucking crazy at this event as SRK is no stranger to the VF community. Sega fucking up as usual.

I know what you mean, but VF feels soooooo right. Anyway, Justin did his thing, the tension was insane! He played a very well game and push Diago to the edge. This shit had PPV written all over it. This is the confidence Justin needed, I can see him improve his Rog for SBO.

Tekken is the game I'm gunning for this fall. Me, Denkai, Glory, DaBadSeed, Cidkid and SDS, are going to show we run shit. I'm so angry at SEGA, I just want to beat down some Tekken players this fall. Team VF, lets do this!

This year's Evo was a great event and really showed what this genre can do, but I can't help but be a little depressed at the same time. With all of this fighting game hype going on right now, console VF5R is nowhere in sight. Sega is not reaching out to the U.S. fans like Namco has. It will only get worse when Tekken 6 comes out on console later this year and VF will be even further behind as usual.

I always feel like I'm playing the wrong game when I watch events like this, but I can't find anything better than VF to make me quit.
