1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

It's not determined yet if VF5 will be featured in next years Evo tournament.

The turnout for this years tournament was poor compared to the rest of games being hosted. EVO staff are thinking of cutting some games from the roster to make the event run more smoothly and VF5 is the first on the chopping block.

More and more people are playing the game thanks to the online feature on the X360 version but its still to early to say if the new players will stick with the game and travel to compete in tournaments.

always the inevitable Socal VF5 Gathering/Tournament in the spring.

These events seem to be better than EVO especially if your into Virtua Fighter

preppy, one of EVO stuff who lives in seattle, got interested in watching good VF matches, so I hope they keep holding it.

some players from this web site would manage in top 8, but I am pretty sure Japanese will win Evo 2008 if it is held. I am sorry that I can not say who will be in top 8. like I wrote months ago, this really depends on who you play in the tournament.
someone said "I played Itazan and Nuki!!" "I played YOSUKE and NUKI!" or "it was a good day for !@#%$." I agree they had no chance. maybe little chance when they played against me because I play differently when I play Americans.

So far, Myke is the only one who I can guarantee in top 8.

why do us americans suck so hard at fightings games? I understand that the japs have good arcade scene but do you thin if online play every gets lag free Americans will become as good as the Japanese?

Umm... rather than contemplate and comment on:

Let's, instead, take a look at how the best VF players become the best. It has less to do with surroundings than it does with work ethic.

Ah I see, very good answer given to us. How do these people make ends meet? It seems like it might just be a fundamental difference in lifestyle. Kinda like how we get owned in math and science.

I heard that because there is such little space some of the homes in Japan there is no space for a game room, or TV room, and so if there are any gamers in the house they have to take it to the arcades. Where as in America (so the theory goes) Homes have rooms, basements, etc where the family gamers can play without having to go to the arcades. Before consoles came out the games were only at the arcades. After consoles arcades in America go down, because families have room.

I'm just passing on some !@#$ that I heard. I've never been to Japan so I don't know whether there is any truth to it or not.

If EVO staff brings back VF to EVO, this year will be loads better than last. Two main reasons that I can think of. Higher interest and attendance as a whole. We'll actually be on the current version Japan is playing in terms of mechanics. They'll have Version D by then but that's just cosmetics.

Those two things alone will make it a better experience all around.

Also Andy and I will be there this time (barring him receiving an appendix transplant and it bursting again). That definitely will make it that much more amazing. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

See it's because we use GM crops in america that we are inferior to the Japanners. They banned them and look how it turned out for them. The took us over in almost every high tech industry.
