I am having some issues with buttons sticking! One of my gray buttons and the Y buttons are both sticking now. I opened it up and there is no sign of anything that may have caused damage like spilled drink or anything. I can only think of it being caused by excessive use, personally I am an aggressive button presser lol. maybe some do the same or maybe I'm the only one, but I smash the shit out of those things especially during intense matches.

So what can I do to fix this? What do I look for to repair? I see nothing that could cause an issue so I am lost! usually on a normal controller I catch this issue and a simple cleaning fixes it, but no help here. Its like the buttons have died. The best comparison is with a PC mouse. I have run into many of them where one of the buttons would just become dead and lose its "clicking" and in that case the mouse needed replaced.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Changing buttons to an Ex2 is a nasty process and involves lot of soldering. (hint: the buttons are soldered directly into the circuitboard)

I have also killed my first Ex2, bought a second one and hopefully im getting a custom stick soon so I dont have to bother with ex2s.

The punch button in my first ex2 was getting very unresponsive and the stick got extremely stiff compared to a new Ex2.

Ex2s break a lot...my green button got sticky and became unresponsive too. You can fix it or buy another one, but really, if all of us are having problems with EX2s, then it's probably just a badly designed/constructed product to start off with. Or maybe it wasn't designed for long term hard core gamers who use it every day like us...

I tried fixing mine, but like you, I couldn't see what's wrong. So in the end I just bought a modded VSHG.

some of my buttons were getting stuck under the 'rim' of the button and sticking. I fixed it with a sharp knife. but if you have a more serious problem, I dunno.

I have adapted twice already, thus the failure of the Y and gray buttons which are equivalent to LT and RT. I think the only fix is a new purchase unfortunately. The amount of work that I would have to do to mod the thing just doesn't seem worth it to me. What really sucks is that I may not have a stick for C3. Are sticks usually borrowed out to those who do not have one?

I just fixed my EX2 couple days ago, and I change the switches from my old stick for PS2 evo. The buttons are the same but you need to do the soldering stuff.... that sucks.....

my suggestion is to get a VSHG instead of low quality Hori...

The gamestop next to me had another EX2 laying around. Its now only 40$ so I said F it and bought it. Now I have two sticks, or like 1.5, but problem solved.

My B (red) button started sticking badly not long after I got the stick, so a few weeks ago I got some Sanwa buttons and swapped them out with some careful soldering and clipping.

Too bad you're not close or I'd mod it with Sanwa buttons for you. I did mine and it made a world of difference with just the buttons alone. I'm going to swap out the stick eventually, but that'll come later when I have time, spare cash and don't have a wedding to plan.

I know people say modding the buttons is hard, but it's not THAT hard, imo, just takes a few hours and some relatively careful soldering.

Still on my first EX2, I bought a few of them so the rest are untouched so far. I find it kinda weird that so many people are having problems with them, I know for a fact I smash the crap out of the punch button ( A on the stick ) and after 6- 7 months it still works fine.
