FA Cup and CL Final

    Two highly entertaining games, both decided by penalties. What did you think of the eventual winners? Were they deserving?

    For my money, I was glad to see Arsenal tough it out. Man U had so many chances it was ridiculuous, so I have little sympathy for them. Ruud van Nistelrooy's header in front of the goal, only to be deflected away by the head of Ljungberg was near unforgivable. In the end, the winning PK by the captain Viera had a certain poetry about it. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

    The Champion's League final had all the makings of a fairy tale, and it played out as such. Down 0-3, many had written off Liverpool by half time. Italian teams are traditionally notorius for their defence, where protecting a 1-0 lead for almost an entire match is par for the course. But somehow, someway, via a miraculous long range header from the captain Gerard, Liverpool had pulled one back. Suddenly inspired, Liverpool score another 2 minutes later via a superb long range daisy-cutter off the boot of Smicer. Not long after that, Gerrard is fouled in the box and the Reds draw it at 3-3. In the eventual penalty shoot out, the Reds keeper, Dudek was the hero of the evening, saving two to claim the ultimate prize in European club football.

    What can I say Arsenal failed to turn up for that final. While RVN missed chance after chance. Wenger got it right i guess as we won on penalties. Something tells me Arsenal have been practising them this season. We used to be horrible at penalties.

    The CL final was the best final i've seen period. Milans madness or Liverpools spirit ?
    Dudek with the grobbelar spaghetti legs funny how hes being sold this season.

    I agree it was very emotional even for me a neutral supporter. And wtf happened to shevchenko from extra time with the dudek rebound and the laaaaaame penalty kick. Milan must have been kicking themselves afterwards, or just shev.

    I thought Arsenal was going to lose for sure with the way Man U were playing...but sometimes you can't fight against your destiny.

    I had completely written off Liverpool. In fact, I was ready to turn off the TV. But what a come back, a fairy tale fight. The penalty that led to Liverpool's 3rd goal was phantom, however. Unlucky break for Milan, who I think is the superior team.

    I didn't think arsenal was gonna win that match, after about 20 mins intot he game, Man Utd practically had the match for themeselves, but they had so many chances but they got greedy strikers that like to blast the ball from a distance hoping to score. Arsenal did look good in the penalties.

    As for the Other match, what class. Best finals ever!. After the first 3 goals, I thought it was over so I went to go play some more counter strike, but then I hear goal after goal so I turn off the game and watch the rest. Simply awesome come back and then the penalties and Dudeks awesome saves, haha. He da man.

    It's like the match between England and Portugal all over again for me, I was on the edge of my seat! and I normally don't do that. I love football matches like this. It's pure bliss to watch.

    CL Final

    AC Milan A team against Liverpool B team 3 - 0
    (1st 45 minutes, Milan deserve the cup no question. So much stronger, they made it look like Liverpool had an invalid on the pitch for 23 minutes!)

    AC Milan A team against Liverpool A team 0 - 3
    (2nd half belongs to Liverpool on this 45 minutes of football
    Liverpool deserve the Cup)

    Penalties (or 'who has the bigger bullocks on the night' )
    AC Milan 2 - 3 Liverpool.
    (2 saved and 1 missed by Milan at the end of the ground that the Milan fans were seated, piss poor ,from a top flight team who have won this competition on penalties before)

    Overall: Liverpool deserved to win. In my mind no team on the planet 'deserves' to win after letting in 3 goals in 6 minutes.

    Gutted to see Man U lose to Arsenal (especially considering I was in London for the Tekken 5 Final surrounded by cheering Arsenal fans!). Damn I hate penalties! /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

    Still, good to see a NorthWest team win the Champion's League final! 3 Goal's in 7 minutes! Respect!
