Stumbled across this will flicking through an Oct '99 issue
of UK style mag The Face. In amongst the heroin chic
models and endless perfume ads is a review of VF3tb on
the DC by Peter Lyle. Here's an extract.

VF3tb could happily keep you glued to your TV untill the
emergence of the next chapter. You can learn the rules
in minutes, but trying to master its intricacies often
feels like a hopeless task. And while the game is visually
stunning, it's the purity of the game-playing experience
that stays with you. There are no flashy gimmicks, no
signs of cinematic ambition, and no meaningful attempts
at plotting. The concept is simple enough - you kick
the shit out of your opponent - but VF3tb is actually one
of the most complicated, clever videogames ever.

Closest i've seen a mag review capture the spirt of VF,
and this from a style mag too !

As an occasional reader of The Face, I'm kinda disappointed I never caught that issue. However, I totally agree with your sentiments towards the extract. Wonderful!

I have to agree! The review is very accurate. And this magazine is not even a dedicated games magazine either!

I'd like to meet the reviewer.
