"In the latest issue of Famitsu Xbox,Sega stated that is examining the posibility of bringing the Virtua Fighter series to Xbox 360. The reason for this is the popularity of the series in Western markets, where home convertions would be profitable. "

So if VF5 comes out for 360 and PS3 what version would you go for?

My thoughts: if XBLIVE support is strong (online play or not) with VF5 then I will get the 360 version. But then again no one knows anything about PS3 online...decisions /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

SEGA can 'speculate' all they want. It all comes down to the user base.

But putting out a port on the PS3 and Xbox180 isn't anything new really. Look at what SNK/Sammy has been doing. They released many KOF versions for PS2 in Japan, but released them as compilations for X-box here.

Oh indeed. It amuses me greatly to see this fine example of industry politics unfolding before our very eyes.

I most certainly wouldn't expect an online Virtua Fighter game on the 360, though. That's a feature for OTHER games...

OK, so Fishie and Zero obviously have some kind of inside information, probably due to their recent talks with AM2?

So come on, say what you're not saying!

What's the master plan? What political game is being played here? What is meant by "OTHER" games?

Could OTHER games having the online feature = same game but on a different console?

Damn the suspense! Damn it I tell you!

that would be really cool to have it on 360 so I don't have to buy another console lol, but if it went to ps3 I wouldn't be mad... well my wallet would be but not me. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

My guess is that Sega's negotiating about their prices with Sony right now, so dropping that they might be considering X360 is a good move to get a better manufacturing deal out of sony.... (this would be true whether they're actually considering X360 at all or not...)

maybe another console version w/ online could mean a PSP version w/ WiFi?

I'd love to see a 360 version though. With all the functionality of the 360's hard drive, online services (even if it were just for vf.net type things, or downloads, or sharing replays) etc, the game could really shine. Plus xbox live is just such a strong community in general, people can chat, see friends that are online etc, all right out of the box. I feel the 360 has delivered the kind of experience that console makers have been promising since the Saturn's internet adapter. And they've done it on day one, without the cost of extra equipment (provided you buy the hard drive version). Plus the 360 is here now, whereas the PS3 probably won't hit the US until next Christmas.

Sony on the other hand is a company that makes a lot of promises, but delivers little IMO. The HDD, network adapter, PSP... all promised big things, but fell short of most people's expectations. Aside from the hype about graphics (not one game has been shown in playable form, and soon we'll be a year from it's "debut" at E3 2005), I don't really see any reason to be excited for the PS3. Graphically, I think the PS3 will have a marginal advantage over the 360, say like the difference between the Gamecube and the Xbox.

But, in the end, I'm sure VF5 will come to the PS3, and probably not to the 360, as much as I'd love to see that.

    Here's my theory...

PS3 won't be released until Spring in Japan earliest, and really it's probably more like sometime in the fall. VF5 is scheduled for an April release. Given that AM2 will wait at least a year before releasing a version for the home console, and really it's more likely two years, we probably won't get VF5 on the PS3 until late 2007. Earliest.

So this means that VF won't generate any cash flow from consoles for the next two years. Unless...AM2 releases an online-compatible, VF4 FT Online, with souped up graphics, new arenas, new moves, etc. on the X-box 360 set for release in Q3/Q4 2006.

    What do you guys think?

Also, I think VF4 sold better in the U.S. than in Japan on console, ironic as that may sound.

They mean the popularity of the XBox brand in the west.
It makes sense to put it on 360 first volume wise because there will be over 10 million 360s worldwide before the end of the year.
The PS3 is still a big questionmark in that regard since Sony still has not come clear with release dates, launch figures etcetera.

well i'll buy a ps3 if i have to, but I would prefer a 360 version with some online support. Lag or no lag I would rather go with Xbox Live over what ever online plans sony has in the works. MS has been doing the onine thing for a while now and I don't think sony's limited experience in that field can top what MS has done up to now. Is their anyone who hasn't tried XBOX LIVE? It's super user friendly and the experience is wonderful if you are a serious gamer that loves to compete. Sure nothing is perfect and you will get some occassional lag, but the over all experience can be mind blowing at times, and that my friends will only get better as time goes on and technology gets better. My vote, 360 version!
