Yah. Sorry to be OVER THE TOP about this. I worked emergency registration for a few hours last year. It was day-of-event and a total nightmare. People were in line over two hours even though there were 3 to 4 people working behind the tables.

Does anyone know the schedule for the tourney? I hope VF takes place on only one day and I hope that day is a Saturday as I don't think I can make a Friday tourney.

It's on Friday. One of the reasons why I'm most likely not coming.

No guts - no glory, man!

I may head in earlier to attend WNF. Flights in seems to cheaper on Tuesday.

If it's on Friday, that would be dumb. This tourney would otherwise have a lot of potential to be decent. With a Friday schedule they'll have, what, 10 people show up?

Honestly, what's the big deal about the tournament being on a friday? This is a major, i think we should appreciate Valle even bothering to hold a VF tourney for our community, but now we complain? People can't take time off of work or something?
    9. BLACKSTAR
      BLACKSTAR
F'real. Appreciate what little we can have and attend (of course unless RL literally makes the situation absolutely impossible), or start your own tournament on your own terms.

I'm not complaining, and I think I speak for everyone else: We are mostly adults (some with families) and we work Mon-Fri...Saturday would be better. Just sayin'. It is what it is.

That makes sense, and when we can grow our scene to a respectable size, we can push for that. But until then, we need to appreciate what little good will is given to us and NOT bite the hands that feed us. This is pretty much the only reason I'm even bothering to fly across the country to attend. You think it's because I want to play Soul Calibur or some other random game??? You don't think I have a 9-5?

We should push for people to attend and give them reasons to be hype about VF to attract new players, not create a downer vibe over stupid small details and give TO 's a reason never to run our game again by pissing them off

I think we all get it...Call the vibe you are feeling negative, positive, indifferent...whatever. No disrespect to any of the TOs. What people are doing is calling it what is it. Reality. The reality of the situation is that Saturday is better than Friday. Period. No judgement calls; no complaining; no spin; no hype; just fact. If you can sacrifice time at work/school for VF, cool. I plan to see you there.
I'm done. Let's get some VF going! And Blackstar, we'll finally get some offline matches going.

The schedule is still probably subject to change (especially if pre-reg meets the player cap), so if enough people speak up and say that they want to go but can't because the tournament is on Friday, I'd say there's a decent chance the TOs will consider moving it. You won't know until you try.

I'd recommend hitting up Valle on Twitter, ASAP.

Not sure if I'll be able to make it this year, but the event last year was excellent. If I go, hopefully I can get AzureWanderings out of the COD vortex and bring him along as well.

I wonder if it'll work out as well -- last year, each game had their own dedicated stations and for the smaller games, they were available for casuals after pools. I'm not sure if they're doing that this year, due to the jump in the number of supported games. Got a stupid amount of casuals in because of that, it was great.
    19. PineTree
      PineTree
      Cool, let me know when.

I also remember last time spending most of the time just playing casuals, VF was short and I ended up just wandering around checking out the other games the rest of the day; kinda disappointing but still had a good time.

If VF is only for one day on a Friday maybe some SoCal locals can host or get a spot to get more games? Sort of like Plague or LA Akira has done in the past or maybe even a 'wednesday night fights' but on a Saturday or something. That would make the trip worth it; going out there for just half a day of tourney/casuals kinda makes it hard to justify.
