Hey! Guys, instead of an arcade to go to. I just spied on a new console cafe at Burlington Sq. Not really fully in operation yet cus they have yet to secure the license. Maybe can meet there in the future? I will continue to give updates about this place. They have X-Box, PS2 and Gamecube. Got Networked Halo for multiplayer whacking! Costs about 4-5 bucks an hour I think.

 

Wow a console cafe. Now we need those in central florida. I heard there were some in taiwan as well. I need to go and check it out next time I am back there.

Just outta interest, isn't console rental kinda like, illegal or something ? I remember long ago that it was all the rage during my primary school days.

 

well..they have 'lan console gaming' cafes at Japan...n no trouble yet for the shop owners..so maybe it's not so bad after all ^___^

good old days..5 bucks for 30 mins..playing SF2 CE on the super gun...n some other games on other consoles....

just saw this today abit late hehe. Anywayz, if wanna go console shop might as well go my friend's lan shop. he is usually there anyway. but only 1 ps2 ;(

It's Free of charge too...... He wants to play with pple too. Not much pple there play the ps2. mostly just use the tv for dvds, tv programs,etc.

 

If the there are LAN shops with scores of guys whacking each other out in CS, the same formula can work for consoles. Since the arcade scene is kinda sucky since the death of DDR, I believe that if this proves successful, arcade owners might move over to run console cafes. Imagine, players practise at home then come over to play in the cafe. Furthermore, with the advent of the LAN/Internet connection for PS2, I'm sure there are many operators willing to take the plunge. Equipment can be cheaper than running arcades. Just some guys come in, say they wanna play GT3-Online. Operator says he will prep the room (like karaoke) while the players sit around talkcock sipping drinks. When ready, they go in an play.

 

And all we need is a portable laptop, a DVD burner, and the rented games, and wahahahaha... our own "free games". /versus/images/icons/tongue.gif

Uh uh the arcades are reviving now, at least those with Initial D Arcade Stage.

Cheap to play too! 5 HK bucks per game

(BTW Jeff, to play VF..mong kok is definitely not the place to go to. Prince Eward-every friday and saturday night)

While VF.net didn't exactly made it...the cards DID!
So u can't change colors..items..costumes...n stuff
But u can fight for ranks n keep ur win loss records!!!

Anyway...let's hope the rest of Asia (let's just make it the world) follow suit!!!!

I should've known! Prince Edward was the first HK arcade to get the VF4 test version last summer.

BTW, Singaporean VFers, I'm just back from holiday. Anyone want to meet up for VF some time? Not my place though as it's going through renovation. Also, any news on EVO here? Bugis?
