Hehe yeah... to see the all the extra stuff (and do it) took me about 170 odd hrs, Nakura the same. Basically for all aeons you have (including the 3 hidden ones, anima, magus sisters and yojimbo) there are dark aeons scattered round the world with (seemingly) ridiculous stats. Beating them all gives you a shot at penance who....well is just plain sick. The only sensible way to do all dark aeons is to re-work your way around the sphere grid and get all chars hp to something like 40,000 and make sure they have break damage limit attached to weapons etc. Basically you can do a huge amount of character building in the monster arena in the calm lands if you have the patience.

If your not too concerned about graphics, FF6 has a great story (if you haven't already played it). Its a psone port of the old game.

I'm actually trying to track myslef down a copy of Legend of Dragoon. That too is an old psone game but I've got a demo from ages ago and its quite fun. Other than that and FF games can't really think of many more RPGs I could reccomend.

Oh incidentally, as you are from Singapore chances are you will have the original NTSC Asia copy of FFX, which, like the NTSC USA copy, does not have extra hard bosses. I'm not sure it even has a Monster Arena in the Calm Lansd (though I think it does). FF7 fans will be pleased to see the return of bloody Gyshal Greens etc and the catching of chocobos in FFX2 /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif....

If you are in Asia and want the extra hard bosses, I think you need to find yourself a copy of FFX InternationaL

Get Grandia if you want good RPG (graphics are awful but story is very good, and battle system is excellent). Its ps1 game. I have played it about 5-6 times throught /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

Btw, you dont need to do all that to defeat Dark Aeons and Penance(althought I did, took me 100 hours training before I was able beat up Penance. Quite boring opponent, Obliteration, Obliteration, Obliteration, Obliterationzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....)

You can defeat all dark aeons and Penance by saving about 3-5 millions money. Then just go fight same of them, pay Yojimbo all your saved money and there´s possibility he well use his Zanmato overdrive, wich will kill the opponent instantly (yes, even Penance, but only in its second form, I think). Very much recomennended if you dont want to waste your time in training center.

Nakura: How´s the world map in FFX-2? Like FFX or like FF7-9?

...but you have access to it from the start, which is quite overwhelming at first! Especially if you want to get 100% completion.

Yeah I forgot to mention you can "cheat" with yojimbo and use Zanmato but thats for whimps! Oh yeah btw it'll work as soon as you start the fight but you DO need to defeat all dark aeons in order to fight him and it'd be kinda crappy to save millions and millions in order to beat all dark aoens with Zanmato though. Well only my opinion.

One more thing, congrats on the ranking dude!!! Some serious gameplay hours put into evo!!! /versus/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks!! /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif, few months work is over. My skill level has really gotten up(punishing guaranteed throw/hit moves, E-TEG:s etc...), and it was surprisingly fun playing even with the characters I always thought very boring, like Jacky(this guy has changed a lot from old vf4) and Jeffry.
Well I dont play most of the characters anymore, but atleast they´re easier to fight now that I know all their moves and how they are punished(if they are). I´ve also learned to duck under high attacks in certain series (Wolfs HCB[P][P],Laus [3][K][P][P]...I always react to them and punish). My stepping has gotten better, Im not standing like statue in versus like I used to. A lot more I have improved but back to topic...

I wish there is no cheat like Zanmato in FFX-2, it would prevent me for using it (I use everything that game allows, ((but no codes /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif))) Althought I didnt use it first time playing and I had to beat them fair, it would have been more fun if they werent so simple, usually they had only 2-3 attacks, no fun. Penance pissed me off with Judgment Day at the end of the battle. They shouldnt have done that, half an hour battle and in the you lose it just because you dont know it has attack like that, the hell were they thinking? Second time I used autolife and somehow I managed survive the blast, thanks to Aeons overdrives I defeated it /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif.

/versus/images/graemlins/frown.gifI wished old fashioned world map, they were more fun to explore than just smashing button with arrow. But cant comment before I see it!

    Yes my current status is
    Akira: Champion
    Goh: Champion
    Kage: Champion
...so far. I have loads of others like warrior or so. Its crazy though my overall Akira file (I have two and hes champion on both!) reads like 3700-900 or so. Just stupid. I'm ranking up Pai now as well as Aoi and Lei.

I'm currently playing through FF7. I made the mistake of commiting myself to doing the entire series properly and have FF1 and 2 on the go at the same time. Then I wanna get breath of fire 4 done. Then FFX2. I'll probably be about 60 by the time I finish the games I want to though! /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Breath Of Fire 4 just to give you a heads up, getting everything done, is about 50 hours.Thats not as bad as FF7 and FFX's 80+ hours though.

    Re: will I enjoy FFX-2?

I´ve played FF9 throught last year(again, 4 times now. One try was for trying to get excalibur II but I couldnt make it) best part of the series, I say.
I have also played FF7 4 times throught, FF8 3 and FFX twice. I have FF6 but I didnt even really start it before I was bored(graphics, maybe).
I have played Breath of fire 3 and 4. BOF3 I dont have anymore, althought I´d love to play it once more, and 4 I have played only once, took 140 hours, level 70-80 per character. Memorycard was destroyed and I lost it /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif.
But anything of these cant beat Grandia, but I´ll see if FFX2 can challenge it.
btw..when they release it in Europe?

Wow some serious game playing been done there. What with work and all I never have enough time to commit to playing games as I used to. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif
For FF games, I've done 4,5,6,10 totally. Only played em all once but made sure I did everything...or 99% or so at least. 1,2, 7,8 and 9 are on going projects. /versus/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hmmm... much thx for the input, i'm still wary about FFX2..

i don't mind the active combat system or the dress spheres, which a lot of people seem to have issues with. i just don't want to spend 100+ hours of my life on a charlies angles story.

just how good/bad is the story? and what about those missions/side quests - which i hear are rather annoying?

The story isn't quite up to FF standard - it's fan service for FFXers. It's by no means bad. The extra missions range from the quite good (go here, kill this huge thing), to the irritating (match these monkeys up with their partners), to the time consuming (bloody chocobo stuff again, not quite on the same level as FF7 though). You don't have to do them though. I played it a bit wrong first time round and finished with 50% completion in 22hours. Which is fine.

It's worth getting, but not if you are obsessed with being HARDCOER GAMAR!!111 and getting 100%.

    Re: will I enjoy FFX-2?

Im RPG fan. I started with FF7 few years ago, and it was so good I had to instanly get 8. Then naturally 9, wich I liked best, like I said.
I should start some game over again, Im so totally bored to quest mode in Evo after ranking thing, and now I play only versus/free training.

Hmmm, BOF 5 should be avalaible now, anyone know if its good?

Btw..good luck with Ruby Weapon in FF7!!!

    Re: will I enjoy FFX-2?

Yeah BoF 5 kinda put me off slightly. Its real time fighting like Zelda but I wasn't too impressed by the footage I'd seen. I'm gonna start doing Dark Cloud2:Dark Cronicle soon too.

I always love the crazy extras in FF games. In 6 theres some dragons to chase down, plus magic to collect, characters to find etc. I'm planning to hammer FF7 propely so Rubys on my main list of stuff to do. As is getting knights of the round /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

I only really use Quest as a training mode for versus play now. Our playing groups is slowly getting bigger and better.

BoF V isn't real time combat. It's turn based with a combat system that leans slightly towards the first Parasite Eve. I thought it was quite good actually.

As for Dark Chronicle, well...that's maybe the best ps2 RPG I played all last year, I really dug that game.

Hmmm may give it a go then. From the footage I'd seen it looked more or less like zelda. I've been meaning to get dark cronicle for ages but just don't have the time to commit to it atm.
