Fighting game tournament held in Japan - Super Battle Opera

ShinZ was asking me if I know about any foreigners' info who enters this tournament in Japan. But I didnt know shit about it so I ask help from VFers of VFDC.

Info that I was wondering if I could get is as follows :
1) If the foreigners enter the tournament after having qualification matches
2) How the tournament is being held
3) any other details

Im assuming that ShinZ is interested in entering, so if you have any info that would be of interest to who enters, please kindly reply

I once read the rules for the first SBO...abit about the second SBO...but from memory...here goes nothing!

rules are very simple.

a)u have to qualify with a team of 3

b)no same characters in any team. Just to make it clear, u cannot have two akiras..3 jackys etc etc etc.

c)there are slots left open to overseas team on SBO day itself. However, in the very first SBO, VF4 Evo had 2 slots open. Yet a few weeks later, rules were changed n no more empty slots were made available. Ur guess is as good as mine.

Of coz, the empty slots doesn't mean u have qualified for the best 32 etc etc etc. It's basically a free SBO pass which gives u the right to compete on the day. U still go through hell n lotsa fun like every other monkey.

Just to ensure there are no confusions, SBO team tourney is not like BT team tourney. Now, shinz will rememebr that the team tourney that we went in March this yr had no rules (generally speaking). All the players needed to do was to sign up on BT website, turn up on gameday n party!.

SBO team tourney takes the format that used to during the VF nationals. Kinda like what u see now in otenami 4. B4 SBO day, u have..hmm..i dunno how many weeks. In our case, let's say u r given 4 weeks to try n earn the SBO pass.

Basically, during the 1st weekend,you go to a major arcade like say ..shibuya, sign up with your 2 other members...n fight until u are declared as the winning team. Then, u earn the SBO pass, giving u the right to compete on SBO day itself.

However, just like the otenami qualifiers, if u do not win say..this week, all is not lost.

As long as the deadline for SBO qualifying is not over, you can enter again in the 2nd week. Lose again n u have another chance in the 3rd week...lose again n the 4th week is ur final chance to earn the SBO pass.

One minor rule I do remember is, u MUST have a VF.NET card.
