Final Fantasy XI for Windows (10.28.03)

Im gonna play once i pick it up. could be a few weeks yet, bought a game cube in a lapse of insanity, now i owe my friend like $300 and i need more GC controllers and a memory card or 2. and more games....

the game is great the more i play it. Skillchain makes battle very exciting. and the mission/quests are just awesome.

Is there much of a story or is it just roam, fight, level up, roam, fight, level up........?

 

i don't think it can have much of a story to it, it's online you know? it's just interactions, fights with other people. if it's a lot more complicated than that, then my hats off to squaresoft for accomplishing such an amazing feat.

 

So... the question being (this is written to sound "right").
Say I get the game thru,.. uhm... a friend, yeah that's right. I copy the game from him or use his BACKUPCOPY but he doesn't want to share his cdkey with me / whatever. Is the game still playable?

Yes there is a story if you play this game. You progress the story if you choose to in this game. Or you can just roam, fight, lvl up, if you want it that way. For the other question, NO, you have to buy the game inorder to play it. Since you need BOTH the playonline viewer registration code and the reg code for FFXI it self. You won't be able to get a valid code unless you 1) Steal a copy 2) Buy the game 3) Have hook up at Square Enix. Each reg code can only be used once.

 

Can you kill each other? It might be worth picking up just to dismember Shang.

There is a storyline actually. You follow it to get fame and stuff. Very cool. The party system is really cool once you understan how it works. 4 people doing chain attacks = PWNED hardcore.. It's pretty much like FF limit breakers where you have to press buttons to get the combo going, but here you have to coordinate your team to do which attacks and linking them. The resort is pretty devestating.
GP.. player killing is coming next year. Come and kill me, see how it goes. =)

Sorry... PSO is the start and finish of my online gaming these days... everything I saw from FFXI seemed less than desireable. It is tempting though.

Still playing this game hardcore... for those still starting out if you'd like to play on our server we can get a worldpass so you can create a char in our world specifically. Let me know... we're kinda starting out too, heh.
