Final Showdown impressions

- Akira and Sarah seem really strong right now. They got more mixup options, and fuck, Akira has a god damn hit throw from his while landing K (jumping kick that hits low). wtf is that? The hit throw from + seems to put you in a state like Jean's does, so you either have to block low or high for the follow up. Smart Akira players are already forgoing this option and following up with the 4 hit guard break SPOD instead if they think their opponent is going to block high though...

- Taka got hit with the nerf hammer pretty hard. His new + is completely linear, although delayable to catch evaders. His old move was actually half circular, and would've worked a lot better in this system. His new follow up kick to is also delayable to catch evaders and can be followed up into a combo. His other new move, + is a guard break that can be charged. I don't think it's very useful though. I still have to experiment with it. His ring out combo has been removed too. If you launch an enemy and try to hit them with three jabs in the air to float, after the third jab the floating body will drop like a rock. I feel that the removal of his only mid half-circular move is really going to fuck over Taka in this version. But I'll continue to grind out with the big man to see how viable he is. For 5R version A he was considered F tier, and in B/C he was high A tier. I think in this version he'll either end up being B or C tier. It sucks that it seems so many characters got a shitload of new moves while Taka only got three.

 

Glad to hear Sarah is improved, not as glad about Akira.
