Most likely the best 3D fighter on the market today, now with a brand new game system, new animations, an updated Frame Data for each character, and of course the 2 extra characters that were in Virtua Fighter 5 R : Taka-Arashi (already available in VF3) and Jean Kujo! Beginners and more rugged players are welcome, as is everybody of course.

Damnit, man! That's my girlfriend's birthday weekend I could definotely talk her into a weekend in Paris but how do I explain that I need to leave her on the saturday to play VF? I'll do what I can!

Any Belgians expected?

 

Do I need a passport to get to Paris? Trying to figure out my cheapest option here. Figure Hannah and I could get some cheapo travel on thursday night. I get to play VF and she gets a weekend in Paris for her birthday. She knows how much the game and community means to me so she's happy enough to go. I don't have a passport at the moment though so if I need one then I can't go at all Will get one as soon as I can though.

 

As Scotland is part of the UK which belongs to the EU, you don't need a passport, just an ID card. Any airport can confirm that.

 

I don't have any photographic ID though. I'd have to send away for something aoon. I'll get back to you

 

quick question, is this on ps3 or 360? I ask because I play on pad and only have a 360.

 

360, it's an evidence because most of hardcore players here use to play on it.

We're still working on the rules, but be sure there will be pools in order all people can play a minimum of fights, then a double bracket. The solo tournament begins early (and if players come early enough, they can customise their character on each console) because we want to play team battles. It would be nice if there were an UK and a Dutch team facing other French ones.
Of course there will be free play for losers and some (not too expensive) refreshments at the place.

 

Where are most of you travelling from abroad staying?

 

By posting on VFDC we hoped teasing some UK, Belgian, Dutch, German and Italian players as we know they've got a community. We should post the event on the Virtua Fighter and Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown Facebook pages to get more visibility. We talk about it since the FS release announcement on consoles in September '11. I think this will be the biggest tournament only dedicated to VF in France, as far as I know. There has never been big ones at all, just multi-game tournaments as usual with a few players because of a late announcement and French VFers have never had a real tool like a forum entirely dedicated, except for those who speak English and are going on VFDC. So I made it 2 years ago, when AM2 teased the first trailer of FS in February 2010, and until know we rassemble 150 subscribers, and about 30-40 active ones. Every trimester we had a local event in Bordeaux which made 15-18 players each time on VF5 version C and sometimes we met in Toulouse and in local arcades which opened earlier.

So with the VF5FS release, we talked with Northern players on our forum and decided that the most significative event to promote the game through the community was to make a big one in Paris, the place accessible from most part of France and now, as I hoped, from Europe. Most are coming from Paris area, staff is from Bordeaux and there will be players from Toulouse, Lyon, Lille, maybe Rennes and many more. For the love of VF.

 

Sorry, I misunderstood. We're all checking for an hotel as soon as possible, but if enough people is ok, we could rent a flat for the entire week-end and for all of those who came from far away.

Renting a flat sounds nice, but would that be very expensive (I guess that would depend on the amount of ppl staying there)? Us dutch folk were looking at hostels that were like 20/30 euros per person per night.

ATM there are 4 dutch players pretty much confirmed and we have a couple of other ones looking into going. A team tournament would be very awesome

 

In fact, there were a sleeping scene until the release of VF5FS. All tournaments in the two past years were in Bordeaux as I said, and a few in Toulouse. Northern fighters were mostly active online and on french generalist forums because majority didn't know our forum and thought the game was let down by players (that's not totally wrong) and didn't believe it would came out some day. But we kept it alive with a few players all around the country, and now this is the moment we've been all waiting for.

 

I'm about 90% on this. I'm off work tuesday and wednesday so I'm gonna be looking at pricing flights, accomodation and my passport then. I'd be coming over with my girlfriend though. It's her birthday on the 13th and she loves the idea of a weekend in Paris. She knows how much VF means to me so she's okay for me to spend a day of our weekend beating europeans at it. The only thing would be that she'd probably want to go out on the saturday or sunday night. Are there any good places to go that won't leave me poor? You're all more than welcome to come along as well of course. In fact, the more the merrier!
