1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Has anyone started a VFCD Folding@Home team? I was thinking of starting one, but thought I would check if it hasn't already been done.

Yeah the folding thing is kind of dumb, but it is for a good cause. Why not let that idle PS3 do some good.

I was also wondering about this. I have seen other forum communities with a team for the folding@home project. It would be cool for the vfdc community to do the same. BTW, I don't think it's dumb. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

(I put this here because the link above wasn't working for me, but this one does.....but this is the one listed on that page...but still doesn't work for me, this is new, so probably Stanford will get those pages up and running soon /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
There is the correct link. So far none, but I will start mine here in a minute ^_^ So, lets get going /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Yes, it is dumb. And while I'm no tree-hugger, I think a better cause would actually be turning your hardware off and saving energy instead of wasting it on useless things. Contrary to what people think, computers and other equipment CAN be turned off completely. /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Awaiting "but I'm doing it while doing other stuff on my computer". Save your breath, I've already acknowledged this! /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

You might want to check out some of the information on their site. It is far from useless. A good number of papers have been writen from the Folding@Home data already.

To stop the PS3 from consuming power, you have to flip the switch in the back or pull the plug. I've got a feeling most people don't do that. If you did yourself, I would be surprised. It does consume a bit more power running Folding compared to standby mode, but I think it is worth it.

I would agree that it would be a waste of power if the data was actually useless. I have never run Seti@Home for this very reason. Productive medical research > power savings > maybe finding aliens on the other side of the galaxy where we cannot reach them.

When I said it was dumb, I was refering to keeping track of progress on a team. I suppose watching protiens fold would also be dumb to if you don't understand what is going on. That is why I turn my TV off. Anyways...

So when is the cure for cancer coming? I thought the aliens we contacted through SETI@Home were supposed to bring it?

if it is successful if will be distributed in a mass where everyone can benefit, there is no evidence only wealthy people could receive this "future" treatment, if any.

i will only leave my PS3 on if i'm working on the PC, which in most days it's on and maybe through the night. i also turn off every switch to save energy every night or when i'm not at home, it's quite easy to do and get into a habit doing so.

yeah I'm joking, I'll probably install it since my pc is on alot, might as well do some good,

I do have a point though, what happens to the poor people who have no medical insurance in other countries? (at least in the UK we still have the NHS barely!).

They got to wait until the patent runs out and cheap generics are being made and sold. The whole patent thing is a huge issue when it comes to developing countries and medecine (even our own country). Case in point=AIDS medication.

And if you're interested, here's a nice informative little article on a possible cure for cancer. Seems so simple, yet so effective. One injection and you're basically cured with no adverse side effects... Seems too good to be true. =P

Edit: Cuz is quoting himself? >_> Poppa thinks that's weird.

The cure won't go to the rich or the poor. Only those who contribute. Do so or DIE!

Seriously though, lets see some more particpation.
