1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. Found an app converts WMV to any AVI and back.

For the longest time I've been looking for an app like this. Once, it was only possible to convery very old WMV formats to avi. Then using windows media encoder, it became possible to convert WMV7 to the older format, and from there to avi (but attempts to do this with wmv8 failed). Now I've found a program that converts wmv8 or below (sorry, no WMV9) to avi's, and you get full control of the audio and video codecs you would like.

    ftp://morphman.info/StoikVideoConverter10.zip

That's the program. It unzips rather than going through an install, and it's also freeware. This is a very clean looking and easy to use app.

Disclaimer: I had trouble trying to go straight to divx5.03 with stoik's encoder, though the audio came out fine. Apparently it has a bug that makes it select 1000 FPS as the default. To work around this, I made the WMV into an AVI using techsmith screen capture codec (it comes with the popular screencapture movie making app, Camtasia). Once I had my 1000 FPS no-loss avi, I used virtualdub to break it down into a 29.97 FPS divx movie. It might sound like a pain in the ass to have to go through two programs for a conversion, but this is infinitely less painful than the alternative.

Hope that was useful to some other video geeks /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

that is useful, for those of us who know the complex world of video encoding (or have just been initiated into it, like me). I was wondering if there's a WM Encoder for mac, maybe I'll head over to wmp.com and see.

BTW first big batch of LA clips will finallly be up soon, so people who want to see them, go ahead and DL Quicktime 6.0 (it's free), as I'm encoding to MPEG4, since going to avi on the mac seems to create some quality issues I'm not comfortable with, and there's still no divx for mac (although people keep telling me that mpeg4 is basically divx anyway).

Sorry for taking this thread ot slightly. Maybe it'd be a good thread to keep warm for general video making info.

here's a tip I was able to pass onto Myke, and based on a random comment he made, I think it worked for him as well as it did for me: If you're capturing video straight from a monitor or TV with a Sony MiniDV camcorder, and you're getting the Black Line(s) problem, try turning the SteadyShot feature Off, and it should get rid of almost all the black stuff.
