all the wiki says is a "small to moderate advantage" off of a throw escape.

has anyone actually tested and measured how many frames of advantage you typically get? i ask because i've noticed that sometimes i'll land my instinctive /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/df.gif /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/k.gif after a TE and sometimes my opponent is able to guard much quicker and thus it gets blocked.

This data is in the Command List. The Guard (Grd) column in the Throws section has the frame difference after throw escape.

I would appreciate if the advantage after certain throws (that stumble but dont knock down) was also there. I dont know where this info could be acquired though.

    Like what throws?

If you can struggle from a throw stagger (e.g. Lau's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/b.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/d.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif), then it's pointless to list a frame difference since it can never be guaranteed. That is, it will always vary depending on how fast they struggle.

But other throws that leave the opponent standing and without a stagger (e.g. Kage's /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/f.gif/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/p.gif+/forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/g.gif) do list the frame difference.

From my experience, data is omitted because it's either pointless, or not available. Usually it's not too hard to deduce the reason for the omission.

I believe even at max struggle speed there is some sort of advantage after doing the throw. I mean, why list advantages in movelists from +1..+9 for normal moves otherwise. I don't mean merely guaranteed followups. Not to mention it wouldnt be bad to know what kind of struggling motion helps save what kind of frames. Even dojo lists 3 different struggling speeds for the CPU..

Maybe this is a project for some other thread instead of movelist, I dont know.

Because those aren't variable numbers. For example, Blaze's 6p will always give +7 on MC and -5 on block, however, the amount of advantage when it hits a crouching opponent is a variable, so it's hard to base a solid strategy on it. Aside from that, it's also hard to find out exactly how much adv/disadv certain staggers give, since you'd need to be able to shake it at it's fastest and then react with let's say a jab to get any usable results.

Also, I don't think there's a way to tell whether or not you even got out of it as fast as possible.. but I could be wrong here, of course.

It seems like a lot of work for little actual use. You can always just go to dojo, look at how fast your opponent recovers from a stagger after a certain move and just estimate how much advantage you have.

I remember I used to complain all the time about Lion in VF4 because of his throw game. He had the most directions, including /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif (WTF) but after one of his throws (can't remember which), if you escaped it he still had advantage. Can anyone verify this? I swear that was the case.

In all the games I ever played against ETPharaoh which were in the thousands, I only escaped the /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/uf.gif throw once!

movelists show the situation after escaping the throw in the "guard" column. After a quick look there didnt seem to be any in vf4 or evo where Lion retained advantage after escaping.

Maybe it was just a situation between my Shun and his Lion. I can't remember the specifics but he must have chose the right move every time I escaped his throw, because I would always get punished.
