hey all. i'm not sure if this is a stupid question, a noob question and what not.. but here we go: how come you can do [4][6][K] (i know [4][6][K] isn't a move, it's just same as [K]) ~ [2_][K] with Akira and it'll connect, but [K] ~ [2_][K] won't connect unless the opponent doesn't tech-roll, the buffering is the same idea isn't it? i'm not sure if other characters work the same way, it can't really be tested on characters like Kage, because they actually have [4][6][K] as a different move from [K]... any explanations for this thing?

Aaahh. I don't understand what you mean but I think your thin isn't very important, is it?
Does that have matter what kind of [K] moves each characters has?

After many 'basic' moves like [P] and [K] you can hold the [6_] direction for a little while after the move, and your character will edge a tiny bit forwards before they do the next attack. That's why some combos contain one or more [6_][P] attacks - this doesn't mean 'elbow' but instead 'jab with forward already held down'.

I'm guessing that when you do [4][6][K], [2_][K] you are effectively performing [6_][K], [2][K] and hence Akira is a tiny bit closer forwards for that [2][K] to connect.

    Guessing, anyway. /versus/images/graemlins/smile.gif

[6_] is not really used to advance ALL the attacks.. usually it's used with [P] or in some cases [K] only because there is an actual difference in those attacks by holding [6_].

Cas may be correct in the proposition that you might be performing [6_][K] instead of [K], or it might be a stance issue, or type of hit. You should do more testing yourself to figure out the exact conditions of when it works or not, since it's hard to understand what's the problem from what you're describing.

Mmm. I'd test it myself, but.. no PS2. /versus/images/graemlins/frown.gif At least until I move into my new place, anyway.

haha no, i don't think it's the same as [6_][K] cuz when i enter [K] my hand is already on top of [2_] i guess it's like srider said, maybe it's the type of hit.

Well I did some testing myself and as I suspected, Cas was right. The differences are due to the [K] and [6_][K]. The latter advances you forward slightly making it easier for you to connect the following low kick.

Against LW and some MW characters, in open stance, Akira can do some decent combos after a [6_][K] MC but they won't work on a [K] MC.

The [K] and [6_][K] are even documented in the command lists here. They have different properties on guard too.

i think u can do F+K MC against standing -> P,G -> DLC on everyone in open stance IIRC
