Just talked to my local Sega Distrubutor here in LA. This is the same people who just showed it a couple weeks ago.

When asked when VF4 was going to be available, he said, "Oh, not for a couple more months. Probably looking at the end of the year for that one".

I asked why, he said "They're from Japan, they do that". Good answer.

In related news, the guy at westwood arcade here in LA now says that at the CA Robinson Show, VF4 was ranked LAST in new fighting games by an audience of about 2000 people. "Everyone was REALLY dissapointed with that game". He went on to ask if I thought it was a good game, and had I played it. I said I played for about month in Japan, and it was a very good game. He went on to say that Tekken 4, CvS2, Martial Masters etc, all ranked higher than VF4 at the show.

My distributor's last words were "at least a month". God Bless America, and Fuck Sega.

I'm SERIOUSLY considering getting a Japanese board with card readers and a vs. city cabinet from the guy on E-bay now.

How do they rank the games? It was free play right? Was it a questionnaire of some sort?

I feel your pain Brian, but it wouldn't bother you spending so much dough when the PS2 version will be here in 3.5 months? It is defnitely bothering me, as half of me is raring to plop down a grand to help purchase VF4 arcade, while the other half is saying,"...you impulsive fukker, can't you wait, huh? Do you like blowing yer hard-earned cash?!"

Grr...Oh...i agree that Sega sux00rs when it comes to shit like this...

"Who" exactly was from Japan and did "what?!"

    *SIGH* *CRINGE* *CURSE* *SCREAM* .............

The sad part is, I just cannot shake the feeling that this event will have a ripple effect. Especially when SHGL is supposedly the big testing ground that a lot of other vendors seem to pay attention to and then this news....

Don't think I want to say anything more on the topic until someone announces otherwise...

I was sure it was coming this week, as a local operator told me so, but now this...

I can't take it anymore, I feel like an idiot checking out arcades, the board etc. everyday hoping it's gonna pop up. I think I need a break from it for a while. I think it bothers me more than some because I've already played quite a bit, but now I can't; and I know that in other parts of the world, people like Myke, UKguy etc. are already enjoying it on a regular basis. Let alone in Japan where they've been playing for MONTHS, with beautiful machines and all the other bells and whistles. We'll never be able to catch up, skill wise, to the best of them. People at Kani Spo stay there all day sometimes... and the gap I noticed just between players in Tokyo and those a couple hours away in Sendai was already big. What does that say about the gap between the level of play everywhere else and the US when it finally comes out?

I know it's just a game, but if they're gonna make it, why can't they give it to us? It's really unfair. It's all about money. Fuck them.

I'm not gonna post again until I've got a playable VF4 near me somewhere, I think it's pointless.

I just can't believe that the USA wasn't Sega's number one priority in the West, The amount of cash they're losing by keeping you guys waiting must be colossual. The one machine I play in London (Hi Madin lol) gets more cash than the T4 and TTT machines combined! Why don't we make a petition. I'm sure everyone here would sign it.

i'm curious if anyone in the toronto area knows how the imported VF4 is doing, cash wise, esp in comparison to T4.
anyways i find it odd that they would produce a game of such depth and put that much weight on first impressions, i.e the test of sorts that was mentioned in CA. youd think theyd also notice that their biggest competitor is currently alienating some of its previously solid fan base ...

God bless America , fuck Sega .
Shouldnt that be the other way around ?
If there isnt sufficient demand from US arcades why should Sega waste its resources to the US when they could be using theyre capacity on places that actually want the machine at its full price so that they can later sell the game to US arcades as well as prices come further down ?
Seems like Sega believes there is no money to be made distributing VF4 in the US at this point , they have a couple of machines on test and those arent bringing in the numbers that are needed apparently and off course the state arcades are in at the moment Sega cant afford to bring games over that may cst the arcade operators substantial amounts of money .
Truth be told I cant really understand that sorta reasoning completely , most arcades have Naomi2 machines and the games are on GDRom , Sega could ask them to temporarily dedicate one of theyre machines to VF4 and see how it does .
Then again maybe they feel such an effort would be wasted .

Kinde related/unrelated : The reason Sega removed the VMU slots from the western arcade machines was becouse arcade machines in Europe and the US are generally not really well maintained ( as most of you can attest ) and with similar experiments in the past ( Neo Geo memory card slots , N64 Memory card slots in NFL Blitz ) US arcade goers were found to be stuffing them with pieces of paper , coins and chewing gum .
Same reason I suspect why the VF.net feature is removed for western VF4 machines .
Hmm but European Club Karts in Paris has the card feature in .
Weird , im confused now .
What was this post all about again ?
    I lost track midway .

Ah yes I remember now what I was trying to say and the points I was trying to make .

Oh Adio a bunch of fanboys dont mean much on a national scale when we are talking about hunderds of arcade machines costing several thousands of dollars each .
Im one of the fanboys and it pains me to see that you guys didnt get the game yet , I myself have to travel hunderds of miles in order to be able to play it .
There is nothing I would like to see more then all of you guys ( that includes me ) have full acces to VF4 machines asap .
Sadly my fanboyism doesnt cloud my thinking and I can certainly understand why Sega is taking these stupid ( for us they are ) decisions .

SoA has always been a substandard organization, if you ask me. Time and time again they've proved their worthlessness compared to their Japanese counterparts.

Oh my... It's real..? U... I'm gonna crazy....

Sega is a really idiot game company for marketing...
They just know about current status.. They don't know about
future. That's a very irony. Sega make a good game but they
don't know about marketing. That's a reason why dreamcast
was failed... I really waiting for VF4 when it come out.. hoo hoo thanks sega break my small wish...

    p.s : spotlite I know ur feeling..

You have to travel Hundreds of miles while I can be at the Casino in under an hour. Where's the justice? Virtua Fighter has always been Sega's flagship title, I just can't get my head around this serious delay, It's Ironic, Sega would get more feedback if they released more machines in the US but, since they won't the "fanboys" can't play and Sega thinks no one wants it...

Ah fuck NO WAY!!!!! How did it rank low? When we went we talked to one of the L.A. vendors and he said it was alright and was atleast considering it! Although he knew about the game status here in the states the possibility of getting vf4 wasn't out of the fuckin question.

Yeah spotlite your absolutely right. No matter what happens we will never ever be able to catch up with the best of them. Bad enough there was a gap in the summer time and barely any so cal arcades had the test version for a week(fuck SHGL players bitches). It impossible if what you say is true and it is we're never going to catch up. Theres just so much to learn and do. Oh well thats just like everything anyways. Japan is always there and we follow suit way down the road. Goes for alot of things besides games.

Anyway Zeroms correct on say Vf4 is a good game its just sega too fucking stupid to market it PROPERLY. Man exposure man shit. Whats so hard about that?

Feixac actually its the other way around .
SoA traditionally has been the one who had the right ideas , it was SoJ that forced SoA to do what they wanted .
Go hear and read up on the Sega console histories , altough there is a lot there wich I disagree with it should give you a better idea and understanding about the things that went on behind the scenes ( why the person who MADE Sega in the west left for instance ) http://www.atani-software.net/segabase/ .
Its easy and popular to blame SoA for things SoA had no control over at all .

Hmm, can't find the editorial on SoA and SoJ on sega base. (But then, I wasn't looking very hard...)

But, I have heard that the Japanese employees that transfer out to work in SoA in the coinop division are EXTREMELY frustrated with the way SoA handles its arcade distribution and marketing business...

    Damn,
It's understandable that Sega wouldn't invest in putting VF4 in U.S. arcades yet, simply because, other than the few privileged VFers here in the U.S., the video game society won't accept it. I think I already posted my frustrations about it before in some ignorant post :p,...
It angers me even more that VF4 was the lowest ranked game at that particular show. I'm seriously thinking the only way they would make U.S. gamers notice VF is if they made a Tekken vs Virtua Fighter game and make the VF fighters kick the Tekken fighters asses, which actually doesn't require anything extra, just a little OSHA! and ORIYA! hehe,...
On a smaller level, I've made considerable progress on converting many of my friends from playing anything to only playing VF, even with 3tb! With the small, but growing group of VFers, I think I'll be able to enjoy VF4 thoroughly,...but alas, gimme a damn vf4 machine.

PS- I know I may receive heat from CreeD, but I really wanted to reply. !~
