Quotes from the demure but deadly Aoi Umenokōji.

Of the Japanese characters, Aoi’s language is the most distinct. She speaks in the Kansai dialect and translating it has proven…challenging.

These quotes are translated in context (a fight), because literal translations from Japanese to English can, at times, just sound weird. I’ve taken lots of artistic license with a couple of these…

These quotes are taken from 1P in Arcade Mode, as this mode contains the Countdown Screen/Continue quotes. Special item pose quotes are also included.

Entrance Quotes　-hold the direction until the match starts

“加減しはらんといておくれやす。”
“Kagen shiharan-toite okureyasu. –Please don’t feel you have to go easy on me.”

“覚悟はできてますのん？”
“Kakugo-wa dekiteimasu-non? –Have you prepared yourself for this?”

“いきませ！”
“Ikimase! –Here I come!”

“宜しゅうおたの申します。”
“Yoroshū-otano mōshimasu. –How nice to meet you, please accept my kindest regards.”

Quotes During Fights -these appear during certain moves

“甘いで！・甘いわ！” “Amai-de/Amai-wa! –How silly!”
“覚悟！” “Kakugo! –Brace yourself!”
“それ！” “Sore! –Take that!”

Win Pose Quotes -hold the direction until the replay finishes

“ほんに、ええ日和ですなぁ。”
“Hon’ni, ee-hiyori-desu-naa. –Nice weather we’re having, isn’t it?”

“力だけではあかしまへん。”
“Chikara dake-de-wa akashimahen. –Brute strength alone isn’t good enough, I’m afraid.”

“Ōkini. –Many thanks to you.”

“Mō-issen, yarimahyō-ka? –Would you care for another match?”

But I've never heard "Sore!"... with what moves she said that ?..

I'm pretty sure Aoi says "Sore!" while doing the Tenchi guard break.

i know for sure she says it during her back attack reversal right before she flips the opponent over her back it sounds like torret!!!

I feel it necessary to say that by "kindest regards" she means breaking every bone in your body.
