    They give it a 9.2 out of 10. VF4 got a 9.3 out of 10, uh wtf?

Also, for those who are new to VF, the experts at Gamespot have concluded that the learning curve for VF4:Evo is: "about half an hour", and the diffilculty is: "medium"......uh....

Virtua Fighter 4 remains the overall best fighting game currently available on any platform. Actually, technically, it isn't--that honor now belongs to Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution...

    Nice

There's even a comprehensive glossary of terms, as though VF4: Evolution were some kind of "do it yourself" program for becoming an expert fighting-game player.

That's actually a fitting description. VF4: Evolution, like its predecessor, doesn't necessarily have as much pick-up-and-play appeal as some other fighting games. However, for those serious about these types of games or for those interested in the idea of playing games skillfully

Is it me, or does it sound like VF is for "hardcore" fighting game fans according to American press?

A half hour learning curve? They must've been crazy when they decided upon that. Although they really contradict themselves, since they say it's only a half hour learning curve, but they also say that it doesn't have "pick-up-and-play appeal."

By half an hour, a bunch of us came up with, and agreed that, what Gamespot meant with, a "half an hour" learning curve, was the absolute basics, what is only required to play the game.

So for example, all you technically (yes I know, technically /versus/images/graemlins/smirk.gif)need to actually play VF, is knowing that there is an 8-way directional movement system:
    [7]I[8]I[9]
    [4] /versus/images/graemlins/ooo.gif[6]
    [1]I[2]I[3]

And three buttons: [P] and [K] and [G]

Which can all be pressed simultaneosly to perform different combinations, such as [P]+[K] or [P]+[K]+[G], [K]+[G] etc.

Not to mention that VF's "jumping" system is different than many 2D and 3D fighters, as well as its movement system, and other things, which all take learning and getting used to.

Once you know this, and some other rudimentary VF knowledge, you are ready to begin with training, arcade, quest mode etc.

All of us here are still learning about VF, but we all at least know the (absolute) basics to VF.

I mean if a SF fan switched to VF, how long would it take them on their own to learn the absolute basics, half an hour...not to mention that Gamespot has to be so general now when they make statements like that, because they are speaking on behalf of gamer's of all age......or maybe they are too lazy to get more specific /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

They were on some serious crack when they said that. Im still trying to remember half of jacky's combos during a battle. jeez. Gamespot is just a bunch of crack monkeys. And on top of that, they make you pay.well, at least they have good coverage on games....

Did you read my post, or rather understand it...? /versus/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

When you were playing, did you know the controls, that there are eight directions, and three buttons? Remember that Gamespot needs to be very general when they make statements like that, as they are writing for Gamers of all ages, and skill.

And hey, if you don't like Gamespot's pay for stuff system, you'll like The Warbucket's take on it /versus/images/graemlins/tongue.gif!
