Gamer Chicks...

I'm a bit of a sexist. As much as the thought of female gamers excites me, somewhere in the back of my head there's this little whisper that says "girls generally suck at gaming." Of course there are exceptions to this. I've come across some brilliant female gamers in Gears of War (and one SS ranked female player on DoA4). That's it though. I'd imagine the line has been drawn well before VF5.

But hey, I guess I could be proven wrong at some point in time. What are your thoughts on gamer chicks?

  2. I think girls should start playing more, but they only seem to be more about FPS and not so much as fighting games. Or, they don't play competitive games.(Well, from what I've seen)

Ex. PMS and other girl gaming groups.

But, for me, I like fighting games more. I play more of 3D ones like SCII/III and DOA2:Hardcore (FTW). Obviously VF and some Tekken.

Oh, and there are other girls on this BB who are girls who play too play Howboutsum and Zero-Chan. :3

Girls, from what I have seen play a lot of mmo and fps. back in the day it was puzzle fighter type games (bust a move and such).

The more niche and xenophobic a genre's community is, the higher (and conversely lower) expectations they have of female players.
Back in the Dreamcast era, my girlfriend was really into the Capcom v SNK series and Soul Calibur II to the point that she could hold her own conversations about the meta-game and match ups. What turned her off was how condescending, derisive, and flat out misogynistic players (who obviously have never touched a booby) were towards her at our local arcades, game shops, and SRK forums (although honsetly I remember her posting there not being all that constructive).
Now she could roll with the punches when people would throw the expected "Scrub" and "N00b" insults, but condemning someone on their sex led her to the conclusion that fighting games in particular is (and i'm paraphrasing): "A little boys club."

My girlfriend plays different games. She likes FPS (HL2 in particular), tried Fallout, puzzle games, Diablo 2, and was quite amazing in DOA4 /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Well, she also loves Ico and Shadow of the Collosus, though she didn't play the latter.

I also know a girl who's really into RPG's, a bunch of girls are on my Linkshell in FFXI, and I also know Tenshimitsu, a great Tekken player from Poland...

A lot of girls play video games, and they want to be part of gamers communities as well, the problem is that men sometimes act too much like kids :p (Go AWAY! That's my toy!)(LOL, a girl wants to play! Get lost!)...

SOOO HOT! Half Japanese Half Mexican. Played VF4 a ton!

I was such a fucking idiot for not going after it! >.<

My girl will play Halo 3 online. I tried to get her to play Gears but she claims the Humans look entirely too much like the Locusts, so she never knows who she's supposed to be shooting at. I guess I can appreciate her effort at the end of the day but I would never consider her for a clan member.

I don't have that same attitude as most gamers do with girls. Mostly because I want to be able to play other games with them afterwards, games I refuse to mention in front of small children. And also because I believe that if we don't embrace women, then we will get stagnant and die.

The more people coming in and playing, the better off we are, and women on paper should be the better fighting game players. Since their hands are more nimble.

    PMS Vanessa is a PYT.
She's plays DoA and was the #1 Female on CGS.
I met her a DoA tourney and she ended up on my xboxlive friendslist o_0

My girlfriend plays Streetfighter with me.

She plays Phantasy Star Universe quite a bit though and she gets some serious harassment over Xbox live.

She gets more messages on live each day than I do.

I have maybe twenty messages when I get online, she has forty + more or less every time she logs on.

And about fifteen of them have horrific pictures attached.

    I'm female.

Seidon, I know what you mean about horrific pictures. Apparently since I'm female and have XB live, that means I want to see penor. I'm never playing Uno again.

I'm against gamer girls, having to share a game means less time for me to play!

But, seriously, my wife is all into WoW, Halo and racer's, she mashes around with fighter's, and it can get ugly when we both want to play different games at the same time.

No offense to PMS girls or anything but, the ones I've met aren't very impressive and they are also complete bitches. At least to me. I think the ones I've met take the "I'm a girl and I play video games" thing too far, since the attitude of most guys are still "Girls suck at video games." and whatnot.

Which, I won't deny, I'm not at all that great yet, but I try to refrain from being cocky when I beat a guy. I don't know exactly where I was going with this but.. Then again.... >_>

So far i've only managed to get mine to play Puzzle Quest /forums/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

I'm slowly working towards beat em ups but up until now she prefers Soul Calibur's flashiness to VF's realism.

"But it has more buttons - it must be better!"

xD I actually disliked SC for a long while because I just couldn't get into it.

Don't get me wrong, I love Puzzle games too. Puzzle Fighter (lawl) and Resident Evil.

Also love me some action games. Devil May Cry and such.

Metal Gear Solid.. God, everyone's gotta love Metal Gear Solid.

Fighters aren't my specialty at the moment, but that's because I haven't tried to get into it hardcore. Yet. xD

Also, random note about VF. Playing with a controller gives me an aneurysm. I hope I can get an arcade stick soon. D:

I think I know exactly who you are talking about. I met her online last night playing VF5. We exchanged myspace links. She has a boyfriend.
