    I've discussed this on other forums and places like /. but Gamasutra lost almost all credibility in my book for not including Metal Gear Solid 4 in any discussion about the best games of 2008.

    Metal Gear Solid 4 plus the included Metal Gear Online 2.0 pretty much has summed up my entire 2008 gaming year and probably a good chunk of 2009 for me.

    I've barely been playing ST:HDR and VF5 because MGO is so amazing.
