1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

We already know it won't be totally bare bones. In the Q&A we were told it will have all the stuff the arcade release has at the moment. That in itself is pretty substantial.

But yeah, the lack of advertising is ridiculous. If they can't do it, they may as well hand over responsibility to someone who can. They should be driving those arcade machines to every major city in the USA to build hype but instead they're gathering dust.

    Poor show.

I'm saying the reason for the stealth release is because they didn't add those features. Oh well. Had fun playing it during PAX weekend.

We're looking at a August release date if we go by the 1 year estimate we were given by Sega.

That still leaves 8 months to go. In the world of videogames that is an eternity. Any advertising they do now would be forgotten in a matter of days. This isn't SF whose name alone is enough to keep it going.

If there is going to be any advertising at all it should start about 3 months before release with a bunch of teaser videos on youtube, then when there are about 2 weeks to go they can do some internet ads on a few gaming sites.

A digital release shows that Sega is expecting the game to have modest sales at best. Certainly not enough to justify a full blown ad campaign. Lets be honest here, if they were to go all out on ads they might make people aware of the game, but many of them would not buy the game anyways and they would spend all their profits on the ads.

We don't know what the price point will be but From Dust sold for $15 and had sales of about 500 000. That was considered extremely good. I'm not sure what their ad strategy was but it was a new ip that sold well. If Sega could do a similar thing with VF it would work well.

Well, it's gotta have some semblance of Quest Mode. It can't be that bare bones.

you know i whole heartly agree. i miss the old virtua fighter 4:evo layout of quest mode. where you had all of those missions you'd have to go through before the next arcade is open, 5 got rid of the missions and well.. to me at least it always felt werid like something was missing. XD i'm hoping they bring back the mission format for some of the ubber rare items while keeping it easy enough for newcomers.

I completely agree with Coroo. The Evo Quest mode was bomb.

Anyways, my question is with the vast amount of customization items will they dish out one DLC after the other with item packs or will the FS DLC include most of them?

I hope the initial download will include most everything available now, with occasional item "pack" downloads trickling down. I probably won't touch any of the extra downloadable stuff. I can do with just the items featured in VF5, really.

Of course, I say that now, but I know I'd be ready and willing to get DLC if it included irresistibly cool stuff for Kage.

My only gripe with the Quest Mode in Evolution is how long it took to buy anything that was even remotely cool. VF5 did well to make it much easier to earn money.

You want to check out the IPlayeWinner stream, if it's archived because this question was already answered.

Thanks you guys for supporting this topic discussion. I really wish VF 5 FS was a retail release. I'm tired of Tekken getting all the attention like it is the 3d fighting game on the market worth playing. Bring up 3d fighting game and people instanly think Tekken, Soul calibur or even Dead or alive gets more attention than VF. Well we can blame Sega for most of it. No retail release in 2012 as well as the Saturn & Dreamcast failing. VF gets no love =(
