How much is a decent amount of cash?
And what are the less significant 2nd and 3rd prizes usually? Just give me a few examples.

As mentioned I've never been to one of these Jap tournaments, so I'm trying to get pretty specific answers if possible.

I told you that the cash depends on how many people entered the tournament, so you are going to have to specify a tournament first, you of course realize that all tournaments have different cash prizes right?

As far as non money prizes go. Trophies, plaques, shirts/windbraker jackets, posters, store credit, VF ranks, stickers, getting your picture on Sega.jp /versus/images/graemlins/wink.gif, just stuff like that.

If anyone knows what I am referring to, there was a tournament a while back (hosted by Sega??) that gave the winner a VF4 arcade machine, does anyone know what I am talking about, I heard about this vaguely and have yet to confirm it's true, though it has to be pretty old.

    wrong again dip shit

kumite events WERE and HAVE BEEN the norm since vf2!

    [ QUOTE ]
If it is competition like Beat Tribe, Tokyo Bay, or Daioh, expect a decent amount of cash (dependant on how many participants where there though), and possibily some other stuff too, nothing huge though. There are usually prizes for second and third place, but of course they are not as significant as first places prize.

U do not know for sure...so keep it as an assumption.
Esp when it comes to it being a league table...it's not over till it's over. At best, they win points for the time being to increase their rankings on the league table~
So, do shut up again n stop assuming n making things up along the way n making it appear to be 'fact'.

n Since u are such a minami freak, I would have expected u to know that Minami was 9kyu, not 9dan..he lost his card.

N, he started off the tourney at a 10th kyu.

n again, once again to demonstrate ur superior non-existent Japanese skills, it's dai-haoh...not whatever the fuck rank u quoted.

I think that answers most of your question, if not just tell me

What? Just so u can argue that u are not wrong again?

    *sigh*

You have problems, the 9th Dan thing was just a quick slip of my mind, now I realize that ranks starts at /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif 10th Kyu, and considering he won his only ranking match, he would be promoted to /versus/images/graemlins/shocked.gif 9th Kyu.

Kumite events were not this popular during VF2 or 3, no way.

Sigh, thanks for your time. And yes I realise there'll be different ranges of prizes. I'll just wait for GaijinPunch to list a few examples with specifics, because this is going no where.

I mean since you answered the question I directed at GP, can't you then at least say for example:

    a small 20 man tournament - 1st prize abc$, 2nd blah blah, 3rd blah blah.

a large 100 man tourney - yada yada yada

Those prizes you listed sound like consolation prizes/gifts, is that what they are? Or do runner-ups just get a poster/t-shirt?

    Re: problem child

"spermwich" no that doesn't sound like someone with problems to me </sarcasm>

what did you mean by "cash prizes" though, in order to stay on topic, was there something you want to discuss, I would assume so with the post of those words right?

I'm beginning to like empnova... his posts are hilarious. It's even funnier how he tries to argue a point that's already been proven wrong.

    LOL

We should ask him all kinds of questions about playing VF in japan, just flood him and see what kinds of BS he will come up with. Eventually we will find out that chibita is his brother and kyosao is his father.

Here's one for you Emp: How would I go about registering for VF.net in japan? What kinds of phones is it compatible with?

All the players at Kakuto Sinseki II got like windbreaker type jackets (I don't know what to call 'em), the top two got plaques and Sega's signature 'big checks' with there character names and rank on them. The runner ups+first place almost always get more than each participant, though for participating most players get at least something as an incentive for playing, or even like a thank you for playing.

Kumite events still cost money. I put my 100 yen in against Chibita and ShinZ when I went against 'em in official gatherings. Casual play vs everyone else at the events takes money, too.

Basically then in your system of VF.Net, the more you lose, the more you have to pay. To me that makes absolutely no sense at all, but again can someone confirm this to us all please? /versus/images/graemlins/confused.gif

You have, once again, proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that you have absolutely, positively, no idea of what you're talking about.

You are a product of your web browsing and downloading, and it's becoming more and more apparent as the days, nay, the minutes pass by. Your constant efforts to extrapolate reality and assume fact with everything you've sponged online have been constantly shotdown with minimal effort. Like everything that comes out of a sponge, it's rarely clean and wreaks of a foul stench.

Everything you say, every single one of your opinions, is either laden with mis-information, pure bullshit, or just rubs everyone the wrong way. Your direct manner in addressing a subject in which you have very little, to no, knowledge in comes across as extremely arrogant, yet you seem completely oblivious to this. You're not an authority on anything, yet everytime you post it's as if you're the bottom line on the subject. I've said this before but I feel I must say it again, for someone who loves to name drop as much as you, the very least you could do is not bastardise the name. In particular, Japanese VFers (yono? ....) and the tournaments (sinseki? ....)

    Do everyone a favour and:

    - Stop speaking for Sega
    - Stop speaking for AM2
    - Stop speaking for Japanese Arcades
    - Stop speaking for Japanese Tournaments
    - Stop speaking for Japanese VF players
    - Stop speaking for any VF players for that matter
    - Stop posting for a few days or weeks
    - Play more VF, preferably with real people. I'm sure many VFDCers would love to meet and play an 83% Akira from Japan.

Seriously, if you haven't noticed the disturbing trend of practically every thread you post in turning into utter shit then you need some help, and I'll be happy to oblige.

    pltan:
Yes - I know the VF floor manager of Shibuya Gigo... he actively recruits famous players, but I don't think he pays... if he does, it's not their standard, as it's just down the street. Neo Tower is a regular for tournaments. Fun to watch him get schooled by 'inferior' players. Mukki, FJ, and a couple of guys from "Un ga ii" have showed up before. Heruru was in tehre talking w/ him a few weeks ago, so he was probably asking him to stop by for a tournament.

    EmpNova again:
not sure about Evo, but Napoleon's rank didn't increase - he got a special rank "Ho-ou" I believe it was... he was the only person with it. I doubt they gave someone a standard rank just for winning a tournament --- I'd like to see the video if it's available, as they always stick the "rankd up to xxxxx" even if it's a special rank. I also think this has been cleared on this thread by Summah.

    Empnova:
    [ QUOTE ]

The Daioh videos show that the free play is on during the tournaments, so if you are playing while the tournament is going I am pretty sure you are in "free play."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, there's really no proof either way on this, so I can only speak on my experiences, which I'm pretty sure are the norm. Changing to normal mode is only a reboot. What's your basis? Daioh only posts the tourny vids - not vids of normal games made DURING the tournament. That plus maybe a promo vid or something if they've got a famous player there. "Free games" is *NOT* Japanese style.

As for the story about Ice - do a search for "ass" or "reality fighter" and you'll find it.

    [ QUOTE ]

Yes, in fact there have been alot of them hosted by Sega,

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is true, but not necessarily in the way that pltan is thinking. "SEGA" (the game company) hosts the big events, like the 100-man kumite, in which the stars are (usually) 3 famous players. Wouldn't make much sense to have them w/o the famous players.. They are there for crowd pull, but the goal is more promotion than monetary. They also have their tournaments where you qualify by being the winner of a game center. Then they have a big one (Shinseiki for example) - this is for pure promotion. They make no dosh... and probably lose tons on renting the space. Shihou Tanjou or whatever it was (damn...can't believe I forgot the name -- the Ver. B DVD I ripped a year ago) was at Makuhari Messe, which ain't cheap. Sega arcades, or other arcades try to get the famous players for promotion (of their arcade) and for financial reasons... they cleanup on tournament days, as I've stated before.

So, while Sega does use famous players as a crowd-puller, there are different motives about.

Also, I've never heard of "cash" prizes. Would be curious as to which ones offer cash. Sega owned arcades like High Tech and Gigo give out trophies or card cases, or some other cheesy items.

    And finally everyone else:
While I agree that EmpNova's posts can be counter-productive, I don't think it's grounds for name-calling. To his credit - he doesn't resort to such tactics. I always like to think of VFDC as a step above most other game forums, which it usually is. (Dodges tomatoes).
