So in case anyone didn't know. You can Sabaki a select few rising attacks with his low punch cut ([2][P]+[K]+[G]). As most of the rising attacks, save for taka, are kicks, the ones that it works for give a STAGGERING +25 to +40 depending on the move and when you do it. Which leaves the opponent open for anything from [1][P]+[K] into combo, or even the 30 frame [6][K]+[G].

Did a lot of testing last night and here's the results based on downed position.

    Works on:
    FACE UP FEET TOWARD
    Taka-Arashi
    Akira
    Shun
Notes: A common way to get them downed in this position is simply a combo, most of Goh's combos aside from stomach crumples will leave them face up feet toward. His [4][1][2][3][6][P]+[G] throw also leaves them in this state.

    FACE UP HEAD TOWARD
    Taka-Arashi
    Akira
Notes: There's lots of ways to get them in this position, most of them throws. Neutral throw as well as [4][6][P]+[G], [6][3][2][1][4][P]+[G], and [4][P]+[G].

    FACE DOWN FEET TOWARD
    Taka-Arashi
    Akira
    Wolf
    Jeffry
Notes: The ONLY way I could find to get them in this position was [3][K]+[G] hit throw. I'm sure theres more but I don't know them yet.

    FACE DOWN HEAD TOWARD
    Pai
    Lau
    Kage
Notes: Stomach crumple combos can do this as long as you don't bounce them off the floor. Also [IMG][6][P]+[G] throw can do it.

    More Notes:
Successfully sabaki'ing(lol not a word) Taka-Arashi only gives around +20 advantage, as his rising attacks are punches not kicks. For everyone else you can use [6][K]+[G] to start a huge combo.

One question, so are the characters listed the only ones you can do for each position?

thanks so much for the beastly info! especially what moves setup the position!

right now I'm all about crushing kicks with 4K/5K so this is definitely something I would have never tried and will be a good addition to my game!

Yeah it's pretty specific, but just another thing you can add to your arsenal versus these select few characters. Taka and Akira especially.

Great info. I haven't really messed with the new LPC at the moment. From your knowledge I guess you can't catch sweep or low double limb attacks.

Does cutting a low kick give a bigger bonus than a low punch? [IMG]

Yeah Shag it does. Usually around +30 to +40 depending on the timing.

And you're correct again. You can't do it to double limbed, IE Akira's face down head toward, or circular attacks (most of the casts rising attacks are unfortunately)

This clearly doesn't JUST apply to rising attacks, you can LPC any low kick as long as it's linear and not double limbed as far as I know, giving you huge advantage.

Thanks for the list, Johoseph! I've generally only done this against Taka/Akira/Shun. I wasn't even sure about some of the other characters, so this list really helps.

I'm finding Yamibarai so much more useful in FS even though it doesn't crouch under attacks anymore. I'll gladly take Sabaki-ing Kicks instead any day. Using it to get a guaranteed 6K+G combo in is just devestating [IMG] I love that!

Good stuff here, it's great that these setups work on Taka too, such a ridiculous character he gives me hell.

I didn't wanna make a whole new topic since the subject is similar but here are some set ups to beat mid kicks consistently against all characters (99% positive)

    here are the set ups:

    63214 throw /Neutral throw/64 throw
    Basara ending in 4P
    Tsukami > 4P+G

From here if they mid rising immediately or roll away in any direction and then try mid rising all you have to do is evade to Goh's stomach and you get free punish like throw, 46P, 1P+K or even 4P+K if you are quick!

Also the mid rising from these situations are always guaranteed be 46K sabaki-able!!!

If you dash/crouch dash pursuit immediately after you get an easy way to time a crushing 5K/ 4K~P+G / 1P+K attack if you don't want to guess if they will do low or mid rising. If they don't rise or roll you get an easy confirm and/or continuing pursuit/pressure.

I have other set-ups where you have to evade towards Goh's back instead but I don't recall them all of the top of my head except side-turned throw.

    2 other general observations are:

    1. Most characters that are hit with CH 3K+G~P+G are in a position where their mid rising attacks can be evaded in any direction and there are some where their low attacks can also be evaded in any direction.

I want to make a full list soon but don't have much time really...

    2. Generally any attack that goes in a forward direction, like 41236 throw, Basara ending in 6P and Tsukami > 6P+G put the opponent in a position where both rising attacks are always full circular (Akira is the only one I know off the top where HCF throw sets up an half circular rising mid)

Hope some find this helpful and will want to add in anything!

thanks for the advices, never knew [2][P]+[K]+[G] also works on half circulars, it is a very handy tool against Lions [2][K][K] even if you only get the second one

    cheers

I've found myself using 9p+k to punish 2p and other low attacks a lot lately. It jumps over low attacks and can't be thrown, so it's a nice way to kill two birds with one stone. I can't even tell you how many 9p+k has bailed me out of being thrown.

    Also:
At the end of a close round most people often look to land a 2p to finish their opponents last bit of health off; I'm always looking for a 9p+k and small combo off of it when I feel their inevitable 2p coming. But if they do try throw instead, I still beat it out.

To address the rising attack post above:
I'm pretty sure all of Akira's rising attacks are either linear or half circular; don't think Akira has any fully circular moves at all. For example, iirc, all of Akira's mid rising attacks are half circular, so you can always sabaki his mid rising kick w/ 46k. 46k is really useful now (it was great in Vanilla vf5 IMO, and it's even better in FS.

The devs basically made it so Goh can sabaki any linear or half-circular move with only 3 options: punch, kick or low attack. That makes guessing right, and getting in a subaki quick, way, way easier than it was in Vanilla. I think the improvements, as well as the simplifications, made to Goh's set of sabakis make using them much more practical and effective; the only think that's a little more difficult is the input for his high/mid punch and elbow counter, but the new p+k move seems fairly useful and intimidating (people don't like getting staggered like that)...
