1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Google Wave: Collaboration in Real-Time

I don't know how many of you have heard of Google's newest project, the (somewhat) successor to email (which turned 40 this year.)

With GoogleWave, you can create/edit threads/posts/emails/documents in real-time. For sharing ideas, or working on documents, for example, of how to do specific techniques in Virtua Fighter, etc., or to just simply exchange match data (post the video, comment on it, create a poll, etc.) this tool might come in handy.

GoogleWave is still in pre-beta, but it's already looking awesome and runs pretty stable. Below is a small YouTube video demonstrating the tech:
    <object width="560" height="340"> <param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_UyVmITiYQ"></param> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/v_UyVmITiYQ" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="560" height="340"> </embed></object>

I still have one invite left. Everyone gets 8 invites upon creating a GoogleWave account. (I think a Google account is mandatory.) Thus, we could spread the invites endlessly to whoever likes to join.

I think it was largely premature to release this outside of developers. Although stable, a LOT of features that they promote don't yet run properly or are not even implemented.

A bunch of us were on very early and the experience really comes across as Email+ which is going to kill it because it's just one more inbox to check since there isn't ANY efficiency with existing email (NOT EVEN GMAIL - ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS GOOGLE).

While I appreciate that the two, email and waves, have different approaches/end goals if you're looking to gain an audience and KEEP them you need to offer more perks and and a few redundancies.

I hope it does well but if the amount of people I DON'T see on Wave since we all hopped on is any indication of inherent value....well, this thing was released WAYYY too early.

This has been released in a premature state because a lot of developing still needs to be done, development that Google are not likely to accomplish on their own. For instance, even forums could make use of the API of Google Wave to integrate it into their site to help the community to communicate in a more efficient way.

What is more important to me is how Google Wave can be used for our means here and now at its current state of development.
VFDC members could discuss techniques, putting data and graphics in one document and editing, refining and commenting on it altogether. Through this process, we could do some efficient brainstorming, linking different strands of thoughts together.

I know. that's why I said they should have stuck to a release within the developing community. they over hyped it for what they released.

I don't dissagree with what you've written, I've been using it for work with a few accounts of mine that are progressively thinking.

I just wish it was a better, more thought out release.
