Ground Attack ethics?

Watching the videos in the Media forum, I notice that many of the Japanese players don't use the full, [8]+[P] / [K], attacks. Most opt for the shorter, less damaging [3]+[K] / [P].

Is it an honor thing? I mean, Lion's full pursuit attack does a lot of damage and it's relatively quick.

Or is it because at high levels of play, you don't have the time to do a full pursuit, as most people will roll out or quick recovery fall out of it?

It's kinda rare to have the chance to do a flying pounce. Only a VF hippie would pass up the chance to pounce just to be kinder and gentler.

In most cases a pounce is not guarranteed -- most Japanese players don't do things that aren't guarranteed, especially when there is something that is. In Lion's case, in places where you could pounce (like after df+PP) you are better off doing a combo (like b,f+P+KPP) because it does close to the same damage and sets you up for oki (which a pounce doesn't).

in 90% of cases where pounce is guaranteed, you have better options.

Where pounce is not guaranteed, people will rarely go for it, the only situation i can think of is akira's evade attack which is sometimes hard to get away from.
