1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

I have looked around these forums for starter guidance... but I can't seem to find a guide on the lingo here. What does 2P mean or I challenge you to a FT10, etc? I can play VF ok... but I can't describe what it is I do or when someone describes a strategy... I don't really understand the language.

Yes, I know what G,P,K mean. I know what P + K means. Give me some credit.

    But there are things like:
-2P is positive on hit, negative on block. Intuitive. (What is 2p? Negative?)
-P is positive on block. Not intuitive. (A normal punch is positive when blocked?)
-PP is negative on hit. (two punches is negative to who when who is hit?)
6P is an important attack for almost every character, but its frames vary greatly from character to character.
(Is that a 6 punch combo??)

Yes these are noob question. But there needs to be a noob cheat notes guide on here. Maybe I am looking in the wrong place... or I just overlooked it because it was crammed beside some things I already know?

What you're looking for is the glossary.

There is also a wiki, which will answer many of your questions and more.

These links are at the top of most pages here at VFDC and as such are a pretty handy reference.

All of you questions are actually from misunderstanding the notation. Information on that can be found here

    http://virtuafighter.com/wiki/controls/

2P means [2][P]. If you want information on specific attacks the frame date can be found here

2P = 2[P] . Think about it from your perspective. If your 2[P] hits your opponent, you have the advantage. If your opponent blocks your2[P], you are at disadvantage, thus they are at advantage.

[P] . When your [P] connects with the opponent, meaning they blocked it, got hit by it, or counter-hit by it, you are ALWAYS at advantage. It's why it's the best move in the game. Vice versa when your opponents [P] lands on you.

6P = 6[P]. It's your Elbow/Elbow class attack, meaning it hits mid. Wolf has a different command for his, but since you don't use him, don't worry about it. 6P is good because, generally leads into a string, and is the best option to use after blocking a 2P.

PP is negative on hit. Meaning if your PP lands, the 2nd P is negative for you. Vice versa for your opponent. If there PP hits you, they are negative.

FT(insert #) means a set of games you play in one sitting. So if someone challenges You to a FT10, it means you two play until the one of you reaches 10 wins. The person who gets to 10 first, wins.

In the glossary, positive = advantage and negative = disadvantage.

Regarding 2P or 3k+g: those are directional instructions based around a number pad on a computer keypad. 2 on the number pad would correspond to down on a pad/stick. 6 would be forward, and 3 would be down/forward diagonal.
