I'm not sure how many ppl are aware of it but one of the new girls (Kokoro) in DOA4, is a practitioner of hakkyoku-ken. I thought it was fairly interesting.

Personally I like DOA series, vf is still tops in my book (depth and technique etc) but it's a fun diversion to play w/my buddies who are kind of mashy players and the graphics are sweet...no one can dispute that. Also, DOA4 has supposedly improved the fighting engine, I'm hopeful

There's a pretty lengthy discussion of DOA4 stuff here in the "DOA4...omg" thread. But yeah, Kokoro's style is supposed to be like Akira, but from all the video footage, she doesn't seem to play like him. She has a lot of strings & from what I've seen, no real power hits just yet. IMO if you want an Akira-ish DOA character: Gen Fu. They even gave Akira Gen Fu's Attack "YoshiSaiKen": Akira's [K]+[G] , [P] (Gen Fu's [2]+[P]+[K], [P]); same animation and name. Gen Fu also has Akira's "Shin I Ha" throw, same animation & name, and the play style is relatively close.

In the DOA4 trailer u see the girl "ALMOST" doing a SPoD. I knew from there she was doing Akira's style.

It sounds like doa is turning into a mix of tekken and VF. I looks like the oki game will be closer to tekken's, and some character changes look real similar to VF, like Jan Lee getting a back stepping movement (Jacky's [4][P]+[K]+[G]).

    Gameplay Innovations

What I want to see in DOA4:

It would be be awesome if during the fight a dinosaur could eat one of the players. Then the other player could kick the big nasty dinosaur in the stomach and make the dinosaur barf out the other player and maybe it could be, like, projectile vomit and the barfed up player goes flying over a waterfall and then lands on some dirt. I think that should maybe do 75 points of damage cuz you gotta keep everything balanced. But...

...this needs to be interactive, so maybe player could choose not to hit the dinosaur in the stomach.

If the player does not decide to induce dinosaur vomitting, he should have to wait a few minutes for the dinosaur to digest the other player. Then maybe the big dinosaur could get a funny look and his face and all of the sudden the eaten fighter could pop out of the dinosaur's arse, covered in some kind of fully polygonal, dynamically lit brown viscous substance, and there could be wavy stink lines and flies around the player just in case there was any doubt that he had just been evacuated from a dinosaur's rectum. This should do about 80 points of damage because even though the player doesn't go over a waterfall, he still gets totally owned. I'd like to hear one of those VF players say DOA isn't innovative after they get shat out into the world by a big brontosaurus.

Nah, we aren't evil. I know I'm not. We just play around and give our opinions in that way. But, yeah, sometimes we do get a bit carried away. Hope nobody takes this seriously to heart, it's just opinions.

Yeah, she might almost do Akira's moves, but she's nowhere near it. Gen Fu? Barely. You want someone from DOA that has Akira's moves, whip out Lei Fang. Besides, she's cuter than Kokoro!

I actually don't like DoA, mostly because of the creator, Itagaki. He's one biased man. Especially since he calls Tekken fans idiots. What an ass.

I don't think he ever called Tekken fans idiots, but he does have an obsecion with bringing down Tekken and praising his own works to no end. I don't know, maybe he acts like a total jerk as a joke, or maybe he really does have huge illusions of grandeur, but either way he gets more publicity attention from the media.
