Man, I really pity the Dreamcast, for it only was around for two years. In my opinion, Sega should added at least a DVD player to it. However, I am still amazed that games were being made for it since Sega withdrew from the console business.[/size]

It's strange to think that the DC is 10 years old, cause it comes up in videogame talk every other day or so. It really was something special. Bring back Shenmue Sega!

WORD! I remember a while back someone put up personal servers for PSO so people could still play even though the actual servers were down. I believe to connect to them you needed a codebreaker disk plus something else to redirect the system to these special servers.

If you ask me the only reason DreamCast died is because it simply took to long to bring online play to the table which gave Sony the time they needed to build a larger fan base. Could you imagine what it would have been like if DreamCast had online enabled games right out of the box back then like we do now? Even if it was only the NBA2K / NFL2K series, back then it would have been unlike anything we would have ever experienced putting the system on a whole new level of it's own. Also if PSO came out at least 1 year or more sooner I think that would have been the Playstation killer. PSO definitely made anyone a proud DC owner.

Found the private server I was talking about. I don't know if it's still up and running... it's very early and I don't feel like reading the pages.

Oh man how did I forget that one? Definitely a must play for anyone who did not play it. It's definitely one of my favorite RPG and only second to Chrono Trigger. I loved everything about Skies Of Arcadia especially the music and how well they used it to literally make you feel the intensity of plots unfolding or to make you replicate real feelings to match how the in game characters were feeling. The game is just amazing. I think I may hunt down the Gamecube version as I heard from many of my friends that the added extras only made the game 5 times better.

Totally. Skies is one of the great RPGs of all time. You still hear rumors of a sequal every now and then too, although nothing is ever confirmed. But man, if any game ever needed a sequal, it's Skies.

Edit: Just checked, and rumor has it there could be something announced at TGS. Strangely, the rumor only mentions the PS3 and Wii, but not the 360. Well, a PS3 release without a 360 one seems doubtful these days, but still, if it was true and the Wii version turned out to be noticably inferior, this might actually convince me to buy a PS3.

Still have my Dreamcast packed away, but every so often I tempt myself to play the likes of Jet Set Radio, Shen Mue 1 or 2 and VOOT with my twin sticks.

    Good times.

I remember not having a memory card for the system and had purchased RE: Code Veronica. I was pretty broke those days being in High School lol, so I spent 2 days beating the game without ever turning it off. I recall it being like RE for the ps1 without a save system if there was no card, so I had to go without dieing. Was pretty hardcore.

I'm still using mine after 9 years. It's the longest I've ever used a system and the most durable since it hasn't broken down once in all that time.

About Skies Of Arcadia, that was the first time I'd actually seen a turn based RPG in motion and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It looked ridiculous and I've stayed away from that sort of game ever since. Record Of Lodoss War was my favourite DC RPG but it's also one of the toughest most inaccessible games on the system.

I've been getting games I missed out on before like Fire Pro, Psyvariar 2, and Zero Gunner 2 as well as getting VF3TB again and newer games like Karous. I might try getting Virtual On next since it's been getting mentioned.

Anyone try the UFC game? I thought it had a decent and fairly unique fighting system. There was potential there if they'd continued to develop it in sequels.

What killed the Dreamcast IMO? Bootleg games no mods required just plug and play.

Ah the Dreamcast is my favorite system of all time. Best System for fighters (not counting controller and the Sega Saturn) but I am still playing it today. With games like Sonic Adventure, Soul Calibur, Skies of Arcadia, Samba de Amigo, Space Channel 5, Jet Grind Radio, Grandia 2, Metropolis Street Racer, Chu Chu Rocket, Virtua Fighter 3tb, Powerstone, Shenmue, Phantasy Star Online and Street Fighter 3. Gaming heaven...

This system was the last console for the gaming hardcore. This was the console were you saw the LAST of developers that took risk on titles and genre's. You will never see that again. Besides EA of course. But yeah, can't believe it's been ten years. Wow, fucking time man. Need to handle my business ASAP.

Hahaha it took me waaaay too long to unlock Akuma in that game. By that time people were already playing part 2 with him as a default. But chea I find myself hitting my DC despite my controller being almost broken and both of my VMU's being dead.

Which reminds me I gotta pick up the power stones collection for psp.

VF3tb. Oh wow. My system purchases were governed by one question:

    Which system will have VF?

Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast, PS2, Xbox 360...
