Help for one of Pai's items

Just a quick question...if I'm 7th Dan, and haven't fought Leftie for the Empress crown, will she still show up, or do I have to lower my rank to fight her? And is there a vs method of getting it?

 

I was wondering the same thing...I'm 3rd dan.

 

I'm sure this information is elsewhere, but I'm not so jaded as to tell you to search, search and search some more /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

If you missed a lower dan opponent who happens to have an item you like, you do NOT have to go back, but rather forward... get your rank up to (I believe) one past Champion, and then every three wins you'll meet a high king with an orb. Collect a set of seven orbs of different colours, and you'll get an item. Progression goes like this:

The first time you get all the orbs, you get your character's first (or only) orb item -- which is an item that can be won neither from an opponent nor from vs., but ONLY by collecting orbs.

The second time you get all the orbs, you get your character's 100-win item (or skip to step 3 if you already have it)

The third time you get all the orbs, you get your character's next orb item (some characters have 2-4) If your character has no more orb items, you get a random item that you've not yet collected.. such as, for example, an Empress Crown.

sound like fun? Get yourself to the point in kumite where throws are absolutely useless because opponents can magically break each and every throw almost each and every time you toss one out. Win orbs. Don't lose a match, though, or you lose orbs. Happy hunting *grin*

Seriously, without cheating, it usually takes some 20-30 matches to collect a full set of orbs... gets harder later because once you get an orb from a high king, he won't have it any more and they're in finite supply.

No, you cannot win Battle-Arena items by collecting orbs

 

You absolutely sure about that?... cause that's how I've been collecting my full set of Jeffry items... just two more to go!

 

CRAP! I just checked this out... it's true... I now have a set of seven orbs just sitting there and no item to show for it... Ah well.. I didn't really need that gaudy wing tattoo anyway /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

So to the original point, if the empress crown is a kumite-only item, you're probably out of luck.

 

Yes, I'm sure about this..
If all of the items you miss are Battle-Arena items the orbs will not turn into items
It'll just stay there

 

There is one other way, I believe..
Once you reach Fujin (StormLord)..lower rank opponents will show up again high rank opponents
So...those who have items you want might show up again

I'm not sure whether it applies to all of them or just some

 

I think you're refering to the Adept-Grandmaster and Demonlord-Battlelord ranks. That's the only place I've seen them.

 

Can you be in the conqueror-subjugator and stormlord-dragonlord rankings as well to get the lower rank opponents to appear, or does it have to be in the adept and demonlord branches?

 

You will not see Adepts or anything unless you're in those branches. Emperor's not bad, I like the sound of it better, and you can get demoted on purpose if you want to. You have another chance too if you get the item in the Adept branch. just complete the requirements to get to Stormlord at Grand-master.

 

Well that's screwed up. That means I'd have to lower my percentage down to 78% or whatever it is to have a shot at the crown? Cuz right now i'm sitting at a 97%, so I really don't want to lower it that much.

 

When you get to subjugator just do what you have to to get to demonlord.

Really wonder..what makes you think you have to lower your rank in order to get the item

 

I thought that because Calvin said to see adepts you have to be in that branch. To be in that branch you have to have less than 78% win percentage. And he said that in the adept branch you have a chance of seeing lower rank opponents, which is where I got the idea of lowering my win percentage down from.

 

you see lower ranked opponents as a higher rank. you could see mobious as a grandmaster. you do not have to be in the adept branch to see adepts, you could also be in the demonlord branch. two different branches. basically, get 12 vp's at subjugator.
