    FeixaQ,

Yes, what you guess is completely right.
Player ranking is taking into account his/her win/loss ratios, etc.
Also I believe the ranking refers to ALL the records of the player.

For example, Haniwa uses Jefry, Jacky, Wolf and Akira besides Vanessa.
The win rate of all of his chars exceed 80%!
I think his Vanessa has won more than 1,500 times and lost less than 200.

Besides that, his/her Dan can often be a good indicator, too.
As long as I know, there are only 4 or 5 persons who is 7-dan.
Joh (Jackey), Chibita(Lion), Komagawa Lau and Hakushon Lau-maou are 7-dan.

Unfortunately enough, you can not view VF.net.
You can only view it via Japanese celular phone of NTT.
The only chanse for you is that Sega has announced they will bundle to Sheng-Mu 2 (DreamCast AGVG) an exclusive browser of VF.net for DreamCast users.
( I don't know if you can utilize this method in US)

    Yamcha,

I will try to invite some. :)

    Adio,

Currently not many strong players are using Sarah.
I don't know well about this char in VF4, but it seems not to have many attractive/effective combo.
Even novice players are not using this char so often.

    Lau,

Fighting style of Lau in VF4 is almost same as that in 3tb.
Lau has only less new moves compared to other chars.
But he seems to be a bit stronger than 4.
Actually 2 out of 3 7-dan players I listed above are Lau player.
Shajou sho is a high punch, not middle.

    Tot san,

My RN is Yassa Hokku (hankaku kata kana desuga)
I am 1-dan, but my win rate is almost same as yours. :)
I usually play in Ikebukuro and often go to Ikebukuro Gigo.
Will talk to you when I find you in Shinjuku.

    Boyd E,

I think Sport Land is a nice place to find good players.
Maybe Tot can answer this question better than me. :)
But I'd recommend Hightech Land Sega in Shibuya.
They say Joh, Chibita, Kyasao and other famous players go there very often.

Yes, sportland still have very high competitions. I go there just to watch good players.. hehe. I believe theres are 3(or more?) sportlands in Shinjuku. The one you should go is Kanisupo(chuoguchi=center exit) and Nishisupo(nishiguchi=west exit).
Spot21 is on the west exit but competition is decent now.

Thank you Yassa Hokku for answering. "sigh", Sarah deserves more respect. Her new stance has great potential.

    Re: Shun players in Japan

About Shun players in Japan,ÂÂ@of course there are some around but he's the least used around. Same as 3, you have to be a very technical player to excel with Shun, which often doesn't suit the Japanese style of relying on blinding speed! He is the least used character where I am in the west of Japan, but this does have the advantage for the few players there are of being able to confuse others with the new moves; you just have no idea if they're going to be low, mid, or high!
Another thing that may interest Shun players; Jackie Chan's "Drunken Master" was on Japanese T.V. the other day, and quite a few of Shun's moves were obvious. I tried them last weekend when I was pissed, but only earned the title "Drunken Twat" from my friends.

    toFU,

I don't play those two games, but as far as I know, Virtual On is not so pupular.
As you know, it has a special interface and that makes it hard for unexperienced players to join newly.

On the other hand, Gundam rocks.
Gundam is a very famous and traditinal animation.
The machine is always occupied with ppl and player are often lining up to play it.

    Hi all.
I'm also Japanese VF player and I'm Yassa Hokku's real bro.
Yeah, he taught me about this message board. :)

Talking of Virtual On 2, there are not a few enthusiastic players of this game still, but not so many.
Because it has been 2 or 3 years since this game was released; most Japanese soon get tired of things, ya know. :)

However, the new Virtual On called "Virtual On Force" is going to release in this fall.
I'm sure this game will be all the rage among people as much as VF4.

Pardon me for my poor English worse than Yassa's.

Alteration on Ver. B about Akira

    Hi all,

I just got a new info about Akira in Ver. B.
(It is from a magazine and I haven't tried it myself.)

    Akira Special #1:
can NOT be escaped between b,df+P+G and b/f+P .

    f+P+G:
b,f+P,Yoho is guaranteed against all the chars.(against lighter
chars and in close stance, I'd recommend Akira Special #2 instead of Yoho.)

    d+P+G:
    P,K is guaranteed.

Re: Alteration on Ver. B about Akira

Wow, nice... looks like AM2 really tweaked Akira for the better in ver.B! /versus/images/icons/smile.gif

I'm looking at the Daily VF4 and VF4 Overweight websites, and yeah, Akira's combo pages are getting *much* longer now that ver.B is out.

Also, for Kage, looks like two new "insult" combos cropped up... not much damage, just quirky looking:
    b,b+K+G ~ u+P
    df+P+G ~ uf+K

Re: Alteration on Ver. B about Akira

I tested the combos myself to find that
f+P+G, b, f+P, Yoho is not guaranteed against heavier chars
if you are not close enough to the opponent when you break guard.
