Anyone else think it might be fun if there was an option to hide the health bars?

Not me. Seems like it'd do away with most of the point of the game for me. May as well play 2P in training mode with infinite health each.

I'd like them to add fatalities, VF3-style 1st person camera in replays, and CGI ending sequences. Oh, and the parrying mechanic from SF3.

I think he means just hide them, they'd still be functional.

Yes indeed! It would be a variant gameplay style where you would develop a 'feel' for how much damage you have done/received.

I think this would be a great dojo feature.Like you said, to get a better feel for the game. I would rather them make the dojo over featured and keep the fighting the same. Because the dojo is really where we learn

I would like the possibility to create online matches with health bars hidden, so it might be easier to make it a pre-game option.

Also if both characters were invisible, all stages are taco but without walls and you have to harvest minerals with your workers before you can attack. No, wait... That wouldn't be good at all. Nevermind.. [IMG]

What if there were no health bars but characters got more bruised and fatigued as the match went on untill one of them fell over?

...Maybe that's one for the next generation!

I know. But without visible health bars it'd just be 2 characters hitting each other.

RE: Health bars, I like to know when the enemy is near KO. If he isn't I'll go for a damaging combo but if he's nearly out I usually (take a stupid risk and) do something that looks "cool" rather than 2P if I can.

They had something like that in Tao Feng: Fist of the Lotus (XBOX) which was pretty cool. Poor game though. Also I think Battle Raper has it.

    Ewwwwww.

Part of the reason I love VF is because there aren't any ludicrous fatalities/super moves/ultras. It's quite a tame fighter without delving into the realm of bald men in shorts (MMA) and things like that.

The characters are quite bland, there are no crazy special effects or wacky dynamic stages but the core fighting is simply the best...and surely that should be the most important thing.

I don't want to get into an argument here but it boggles my mind how these pro players, worlds apart from myself in terms of skill, can bear to play games that reward failure (Tek6, SSFIV) or are flat out broken or unbalanced (MvC3) or just piss poor (MK9). Sure if you're not a massive stiff like me you can have fun and dick around on lesser games but to me every other fighter feels sloppy.

Sorry if I come across as a dick...I am.

There's something to be said for that.

People tend to play differently when they are about to die or finish off the opponent. Having a mode where you can't clearly anticipate those moments could have some interesting results.

Which is why I said just play in dojo with infinite health.

But you can't play a real match with that.
