1. Hey Guest, looking for Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown content? Rest assured that the game is identical to Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown so all current resources on here such as Command Lists with frame data, Combo Lists and the Wiki still apply. However, you can expect some VF5US specific changes to come soon!

Virtua Fighter 4 had an option under game settings named Hit Effect. You could set Hit Effect Flash Off, if you wanted.

Will we at least get this option in VF5US. The option has been in previous versions of VF that allowed the user to turn the Hit Effects off.

So many players say they don't even notice those ugly hit effects now. So if they're not being noticed, why should they be in the game.

All that Bull$#it about those hit effects giving new players more information was just a poor (very poor) excuse to try to bring Virtua Fighter visuals more inline with Tekken and Street Fighter to gain more players. It didn't work:meh: All it did was turn off (and in some cases anger) some of the loyal fan base. o_O

I truly hope in one of these updates, patches, or DLC we'll be given the option to turn that $#it off:mad:

Hit effects are part of frame by frame image processing. So turning it OFF on one side and ON the other will create further issues during online play.
Beside that, I don’t mind the hit effects at all and they’re not like overblown or anything. They’re very subtle.
    Stop complaining Poo-chan;)

Hit Effects were part of frame by frame image processing in VF4, but it still had an option to turn them off:meh:

    And I really don't give a F#ck about online play:cool:

The interesting thing is, a few weeks ago, I noticed that there were a bunch of viewers on a few youtube and twitch VF5 US live streams, who were complaining a bit about the hit sparks too.

Hit Flashes in Tekken and SF, GG, etc are fine. Whether they're being used to indicate what kind of hit or whether they're being used as decoration, artistic expression, excitement generators or whatever, its all good.

But Virtua Fighter has been the leader and innovator in so many features that all 3D fighters just take for granted today, that it is very disappointing to see Virtua Fighter basically play follow-the-leader on the Hit Sparks and Copy, Tekken, SF, etc.

Sure if Virtua Fighter wanted to add some new kind of Hit Indicator to VF that used colors (blue, yellow, red, purple) to distinguish between normal hits, counter hits, throws, blocks etc, fine. There are dozens of ways that could have been done without kow tow to Tekken, SF, etc

Who ever is at the controls for VF5US and VF6 whether its RGG, or AM2 or both, I truly hope they show some originality, and trail blazing with VF and simply not copy off of all the other 3D/2D arcade fighting games.

Yes VF graphics should be updated for the new generation:rolleyes: But those updates should be original, innovative, creative, and consistent with the Virtua Fighter concept. Not just an inferior, knock off of Tekken or SF graphics:cautious:

You summed it up correct Po.

Concerning innovation, the sad thing is, ever since sega dumped the saturn and dreamcast, and put VF4 on PS2, sega's innovation has veered off course, and has been on a wonky path since then. Its like for the past two decades, they don't know what the heck to do, with any of their classic franchises. And as mentioned above, they seem to be watching their competition more, than working on new innovative ideas, and watching their own dang business.
